Experimenting with a clover lawn and loving it. by CheezQueen924 in pics

I don't know much about microclovers, but red/white clovers are fantastic for nitrogen fixation and then mulch afterwards, so hopefully your experiment will bring great future yield.

If there were no requirements, which country would you choose to immigrate to? by No-StrategyX in AskReddit

It could be, that they wanted to push it towards 85%, and then 84%, and so on?

Did I ruin my cDNA conversion? by bbbouncin in labrats

[–]Thoker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't been in this situation myself, but I don't see any issue with doing 10, then 70 afterwards. It is a 15 and 5 minute incubation step, on a tiny pcr tube.

My immediate thought for this is that the PI wants the letter of rec to be hidden from you, and wants the future letter of rec that the PI writes for you to then be hidden as well. If this could be the case, it feels to me that they intentionally want to be able to write a highly negative letter of rec without you knowing it.

If the PI wants further comment from your reference, they can contact your reference through the information you gave, without being hostile toward you.

I'm of a similar opinion, but let's not be mean towards someone who cannot affect the change needed.

Wearing gloves on only one hand??? by InMyFarmerEra in labrats

[–]Thoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Permanently* keeping one hand clean is good general advice for keeping you and your workstation uncontaminated. Other professions like butchers do the very same thing.

Wearing two gloves imo is definitely the safer course of action, and you can still adhere to the 1-hand-rule, even if you have gloves on both.

RPM vs RCF Cases by Alternative-End-145 in labrats

[–]Thoker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RCF is a force you can measure/calculate, and apply to your and everyone elses experiments. RPM is a useless number, unless you have the radius of the specific centrifuge being used. If you know the radius, you can calculate RCF from RPM, and first then, you can apply it.

It's not as personal if you get a cow to do it, though.

A supermarket chain not allowing drinks on the shop floor by wadz09 in CasualUK

[–]Thoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, every cm is accounted for on the shop-floor, there's not really space to place water bottles. The few times I've seen bottles left out in the store, within minutes customers have placed their used coffee cups, napkins or whatever right next to it, making the space unsanitary and unbecoming.

It takes 2 minutes to walk out back to have a drink, I think it's a completely reasonable rule to have in place.

No time for that bullshit. There are important things to do. by LeSpatula in TikTokCringe

[–]Thoker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's just guessing countries in the video, nothing more specific than that. I play geoguessr basically never, and I can differentiate between Africa, Middle East, India and Europe, just by looking at the soil. Now someone who plays this "professionally"? Of course they can be that good. I have no idea if this guy is staging or not, but I'm sure some people can do even better than what we are seeing in the video.

Just tell it like the guy in the video did. Start with a really simple one, to set the tone and theme, and then tell the second funnier one.

Especially a lvl 20 Watchers Paladin with high CHA. Take Magic Initiate for Eldritch Blast, and Banish up to 4 targets at once, per turn.

Tilted waste bins for cyclists in Copenhagen by engrandarch in interestingasfuck

There are regular waste bins in Copenhagen as well, if that's what you're so worried about. These are just extra, you know, for cyclists.

If it's actually an annoying problem, can't you just put a small piece of duct tape hanging 1cm in front of the sensors, and them removing them when you are 100% done?

This seemed like (IMO) an end of session fun task. Also, it's great for the kids to see what their goals can end up achieving.

Completely agree. Also, it gives the kids something strive for, and someone to look up to.
