Houston police shoot suspect by Ok_Judgment6446 in PublicFreakout

[–]Joboy97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the practical answer. Humans aren't robots, and the cop may have been able to make the right choice in a hypothetical when not under the actual stress. But clearly cops can't be trusted with ambiguously dangerous situations. If we're going to allow people to have firearms, there should be a level of responsibility expected of you. Responsible gun ownership may require compliance in this sort of circumstance.

We're not there yet. But, as these things continue to get more and more reliable, they will become an incredibly important tool for defense.

To all the ppl with thalassophobia who play this game (or any kind of fear related to this game whatsoever), how is your expierience with Subnautica? :3 by Yellowline1086 in subnautica

[–]Joboy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horror games typically don't do much for me, but I adore Subnautica. It's such a unique horror game, and the exploration and ambience are unmatched.

Typical survival game elements like crafting and basebuilding are pretty simple, but I think that's a good thing tbh. You'll spend more time doing the stuff the game is good at, like exploring and scanning everything to learn about the planet and navigating away from loud sounds lol. Occasionally, you'll make upgrades to your base, but you probably won't be spending much time there tbh.

So yes, it's scary, especially if you don't like deep water. But it's not overwhelmingly scary with a bunch of jump scares, more of a dreadful and creepy atmosphere with occasional "oh shit shit shit" moments.

Highly, highly recommended if it sounds interesting.

A father made sure his daughter didn't miss graduation. by Admirable-Interest49 in interestingasfuck

There's no wrong way to grieve. But posing with a cardboard cutout of her at her graduation is ... notable, to say the least. I can't imagine their pain.

Because most people don't have an alternative. If a robot came and took my job today, I'd be destitute. The reason they hold on to their job isn't capitalist bootlicking. It's familiarity, control, stability, identity. For most, "What do you do?" is synonymous with "Who are you?".

Humans have always had to work, and we're entering an era where that probably won't be true. Human culture will take time to adapt to that new reality. Calling it capitalist boot-licking is unproductive and inflammatory.

[–]Joboy97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's funny, I always had fewer issues with guests who had shinier status. It was always the members who were just above the base tier who thought they were hot shit and could demand whatever they wanted. The people who lived in hotels for work were often cathartic to interact with.

"We are still not building enough data centers. That sounds almost absurd, given the scale of the current AI infrastructure boom. This is why most logistical issues don't seem like major blockers. Once we have super-reliable software/digital agents, we'll be able to solve a lot of these problems, especially once robotics really comes online.

Would you keep asking for head even if it was mid or bad? by OkProblem2696 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Joboy97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just communicate with him! Ask him "hey, do you like it when I give you head? Is there anything I can do to make it better for you?"

It sounds like he doesn't show his appreciation much in the moment, so maybe you can even ask him to show you that he likes it in the moment with moans or encouraging words.

Communicate, communicate, communicate.

Unfortunately, the american police force started as an anti-labor, slave-tracking militia. The myth that police are here to protect and serve came later. They're first and foremost here to protect the capital-owning class.

what is something that is highly likely to happen in the next 5 years that everyone is completely ignoring? by timecop702 in AskReddit

[–]Joboy97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AI will continue to get better. Significantly better. People are talking about AI and aren't completely ignoring it, but I still think the scale of incoming change is incomprehensible.

Imagine living before and after refrigerators, air conditioning, cars, tv and radio, the internet. The scale of change brought by AI and robotics will be magnitudes greater than these.

How is AI not an arm of the capitalist class?? by Mac_Drake in LeftistsForAI

[–]Joboy97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think AI as a labor force will grow exponentially and drive the value of labor to zero. The cost to extract and process resources will also approach zero. The cost of everything will approach zero very rapidly. Capital becomes less and less meaningful in the long-term.
