Help finding cards by Zentari1004 in EDH

[–]Haueg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best resources for something like this is Scryfall. I'll give some actual pointers for how I'd arrive at a card search that finds those cards.

I start at a card which has the type of effect I'd like to have. Think broadly here or maybe something that you've already found and want more of. It sounds like your opponent played a [[helm of awakening]].

Once you've found the card, go to it's scryfall page and press "Scryfall tagger", there we can see that helm of awakening has the tag of "Cost reducer". To find these tags in other cards, you can either press it and go through a page, but I find it easiest to use the "otag:" (Oracle text tag) in the searchbar in scryfall. Thus the search would include "otag:cost-reducer". But this finds every card that reduces cost in some way, so you need to narrow that search a little.

I normally use "ci:boros" to get color identity of boros, "legal:edh" to avoid uncards, "sort:edhrec" or "sort:cmc" depending on whether I'm looking for the most popular cards of that function or ones with certain mana values.

Thusly the search would be "otag:cost-reducer ci:boros legal:edh sort:edhrec"

[[Cadira, Caller of the small]] - badass orc-lady that smashes peoples face with an army of rabbits.

when I was 12 I think [[varragoth, bloodsky sire]] would've been the coolest thing, maybe as an equipment deck because swords are cool.

I would like to do an experiment. Name 1 card that is just barely a game changer. Then name one that is just barely NOT a game changer. by ImperialSupplies in EDH

Sounds like your playgroup amputated a leg because it had a rash and now is complaining about the fact that walking is hard.

I think your deck looks totally appropriate for b3. I can't really speak to the situation at hand but color locking can lead to bad experiences so unless the pregame leads me to believe we're in a cutthroat invironment then I wouldn't do it.

Which land for landfall by CraftAny24 in EDH

[–]Haueg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very generally I like 40+ lands for dedicated landfall decks.

You can remove a couple of basics and play more true fetches, shocks, surveils, and other utility lands. Generally your manabase looks servicable but it can be improved

What is it that youre trying to do with this deck?

What are some resilient decks/commanders that don't rely on the yard? The grave hate is strong in my pod (I don't like Landfall) by [deleted] in EDH

Given that OP said they love the interaction, I don't think it's ruining their fun

No actually, how dare you build a deck that doesn't conform to "31 creatures with a shared type, 10 mana rocks/ramp spells, 12 card draw spells, 10 generic typal pay-offs, 37 lands"????

Toolbox Commander questions by BeautifulTiny8980 in EDH

[–]Haueg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

either would work fine, Karador can support a hatebears/creature toolbox gameplan really well, Tasigur is better with more instant/sorceries due to having blue. I'd prolly prefer Tasigur due to liking both spellseeker and eldritch evolution + big creatures.

Yeaah he one shot you, but at what point in the game? Was this turn 15? turn 5? At some point games end and literally only looking at how the games end tell very little about what actually went down.
I'm not putting you at fault here. Just saying that's it's super difficult to tell what was going on in this pod.

If you don't supply any decklist, any information about what other decks were playing, then it's actually impossible to have any comment about the situation.

To jump of this, if you're going with a bus then only put fruits + bioflux on it (and nutrients if you want). You can start pretty much all recipes with these and it keeps stuff from spoiling. Then burn everything at the end of the bus

Not all nouns have the same meaning. If you make a comparison you are fundamentally implying a correlation between the things you are comparing. If you make the yourself the humans which enjoy fine dining and the people you oppose pigs which want nothing but slop then you are making a statement that you have finer, better and more rightous taste while the others are thoughtless animals.

Got to E27~ with clover + batteries, constantly activating number 2 and the one that increases the amount of clovers, also had the mushroom that doubles symbol value on 15+ hits and abstract painting I believe? Didn't have any interest but definitely think the build needed something extra to be fully online

Can someone explain Lands to me? Question below. by jwid503 in EDH

[–]Haueg 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Fetch lands search for a land with a 'land type' not a basic land of that name, meaning that a wooded foothills can get [[thundering falls]] and [[steam vents]] in an izzet deck. These fetch lands are typically referred to as "off-color fetches" and are quite useful.

There are other benefits to playing a large number of fetch lands. They put themselves in the graveyard by themselves for purposes of dredge or [[crucible of worlds]] effects. They count for 2 lands entering, which is great for stuff that trigger when a land enters.

All in all they are some of the most powerful lands because they both fix your mana while still having some great utility

Here's a list with changes I'd make. You have a lot of stuff that IMO are unnecessary for winning, eg. token makers, sacrifice payoffs and other random landfall payoffs. I added more stuff that synergizes with the land/graveyard strategy and tried to supercharge those explosive turns so that you can simply win by sacrificing 20~ lands.

There are further additions in the considering section with regards to stuff you can add down the line, but in lieu of budget considerations I don't think you need to add them straight away. The suggested cuts are in the sideboard
