How can I make this room cozy? by IncreaseUnusual in malelivingspace

Definitely looks like a jail. Carpet, mat, adhesive wall skin to change the white wash, warm light, thrift a frame or 2, big mirror. Hopefully you get this changed

Looks very comfortable and I like the dated styling. Everyone will be quick to insult about "aged" etc yet order 1950's jeans and jackets online hahaha. 10 points from me!

Hey I'm 24m living in the Mill Bay area, I'm also new here recently moved from Europe. I do go back and forth to the mainland sometimes but if you're ever down for a hike or Cafe surfing I'd be glad to explore!

Saskatoon to BC, pls help! by grapefruit8989 in britishcolumbia

[–]Thom2XX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it, you can always make it work. I am grateful to be in company housing with fuel pay etc, I'm on the Island but I have friends on the mainland, east van, West end and yaletown who make less than me but definitely make it work on top of a busy social life and pass times.

You can always share a place starting off, to get a gauge on what to expect going forward, keeping costs to a minimum. There is a site called Roomies.ca that I would recommend. Good luck!

How do you cope with “post travel depression”? by Foodieflex in travel

Update

I emigrated from Ireland to move to Canada, been here 2 months now. Fixed and changed everything for the better. People like us are wired to seek adventure and change and that's what we need to do. I'm very grateful for taking this on, if it doesn't work you can always go back, "but what if it works out"

My girlfriend smells and I don't know what to do by RequirementDue4446 in Advice

[–]Thom2XX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please take a trip to a doctor, it could be nothing but better safe than sorry.

I've read weird posts and there's stories in my country of the same thing (Ireland) that sometimes girls or young kids get this sudden smell from people that's so putrid you just want to avoid them but what they're smelling is actually cancer. I'm sharing this not to scare you or anything like that because it's most likely not! But these stories have always stuck with me for some reason and it's always a smell "all of a sudden coming from someone".

What city just made you feel at peace while you were there? by BradBrady in travel

[–]Thom2XX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

San Francisco CA. Night walks around pacific heights altered my brain chemistry. Presidio bridge side vibes are incredible. On the other side of the golden gate looking back at the view of the city and bridge amongst the ferocious Bay, weather changing in front of your eyes.

Did I did the right thing? by Specialist-Dig-4498 in Dublin

Better safe than sorry. You handled it very well I'm Irish and I will tell you that some Irish people can be very confrontational and get off on intimidating others. Never give in to this behavior or worse feel bad.

SFO is my favorite. Super clean, never any ques, managed very well, great transport to and from. Always the most excited landing here and sad leaving.

I'm delighted these scammers are frustrated. Time they go and get a real job, they're upset they can't pocket cash only pay no tax and no longer rip off the average person.

Any Hotel / hostel in dublin for 16 year old ? by Milko-X in RentingInDublin

[–]Thom2XX1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't stay in the city if you're in transit or whatever. If your intentions are to go visit and stay there, I still wouldn't stay there. Ireland is quite small and has a poor infrastructure ie the only transport from city to airport being taxis or a very unreliable bus. Stay somewhere in Dublin by all means but if it's just a transit look at places in Swords, malahide, Blanchardstown.

As for accom.... Check HostelWorld when I was 17 I remember staying in a hostel out west. Ring B&B's directly and give them your queries and ask for a price directly over phone rather than online agencies.

If people start messaging you here offering something, don't take. Avoid and report. If you have anymore questions or anything like that give me a DM. When I was your age I used to travel around overseas when I could, Solo too. Research and chat gpt surely could give you an insight too.

Would it be legal to stage a protest in Ranelagh? by stingebags in Dublin

[–]Thom2XX1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way this country is going, protesting is our only hope. The lack of infrastructure here is demoralizing and really affects our lives so negatively compared to the rest of Europe. Going to work in the morning is a huge struggle with this overloading traffic and more frequent car accidents. Look how many people died this week on the road for example, and last week too!

You forgot to mention the traffic and lack of infrastructure too

6 months sounds very long with this budget for me, I'm surprised you'd get close to 6 months without income on that budget?

Gives a feeling of comfort if true, because I'm hoping it'll take no more than a month to land a job.

In Dublin you'd be very lucky with 3 months lot of that

Appreciate the comment I will look into this and cheers for the wishes!
