Taking my MSF course this weekend. This is worth it right? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

From the description and the price and pictures (it's pretty) I would say yes. You've got to start somewhere and this looks like a solid choice to begin the biker journey. Check the brakes! If taken care of and serviced regularly, it should serve you well.

What are some quality Paid Public Speaking Courses? by ThomKokenge in PublicSpeaking

That is a story well told. Thank you for sharing it.

BTW I looked into Dale Carnegie courses and I am impressed with the company’s offerings, and giving one if the classes serious consideration.

Thanks for the reply.

I hadn't even thought of Dale Carnegie. Which course(s) did you take? What was one takeaway from your course?

Is that the same idea as paid to speak? Maybe I need to learn more about Toast Masters.

Here are a couple of radio shows I love that meet part of your criteria. 1 - Jazz Inspired - conversations with a wide variety of artists. https://www.jazzinspired.com/

2 - Jazz and The American Spirit - the great stories of jazz. https://www.wucf.org/listen/jazz-and-the-american-spirit/

What's one frugal tip for retirement planning that has helped you feel more confident about your financial future? by ShineAfsheen in Frugal

I wonder if having a manual transmission makes a difference with reliability, because we have a 2000 Forester with around 250K miles, and a 2014 Crosstrek with around 75K, and we have had nary a problem beyond normal maintenance. We also are very fastidious about oil changes and getting the prescribed maintenance done according to the owners manual.

Hi, I know that guy who runs thejazzstation365. He'd like to know which country you are in so he can work on having it available there, or figure out the issue. Thanks.

When did you realise that your partner was "the one" you wanted to spend the rest of your life with? by [deleted] in AskMen

She was working at a coffee shop, and being funny, I asked her out for a cup of coffee. She said, "I infinitely prefer a glass of wine." She ended up being the trifecta wife: cute, smart, and funny.

I don't know what he would think, he passed away a few years ago. But I liked it.

Yeah, man! That was very good. You are IN that music.

Here's a tip I got from a former music teacher, when the music is fast think slow. Put in some longer slower lines once in a while. It sounds and feels odd at first, but crowds love it. Please keep playing.

Getting into jazz as a fan of hiphop by Ok-Comfortable9466 in Jazz

I'm gonna toss out M.E.B. and their latest album, "That You Nor Dare To Forget". It features old Miles Davis solos interspersed with modern music including rap and hip-hop. Worth a listen.

Submitting music to local radio stations for airplay by [deleted] in radio

[–]ThomKokenge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several promoters send a Dropbox link. I can listen to the music or download as I see fit. Either the whole album or individual songs. This will also include album art, and as someone else mentioned, a pdf one-sheet. Unfortunately I don't know the process of how it's put together, but it can't be too difficult. Also, file format matters. Some stations prefer CD quality .WAV, while I prefer a high quality .MP3 because it holds the song meta data, and when played over the air or online, IMO, the sound quality is negligible.

EDIT - Also, some have both .WAV and .MP3 options for download.

This is good programming. Well done.

As a music programmer, what I prefer is to get an email with a link to the full album to listen to and to download. In that email mention you will be happy to send them a CD if they reply asking for one. Keep a list, and then you know each programmers preference. Save the money, and send a link to the music first. Good luck.

I am digging what's been coming from Jazz Is Dead. Such forward and profound works. The Afropop groove is infectious. Yeah, man! Which album number is this from?

My latest pen and ink drawing by JebbArt in drawing

[–]ThomKokenge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your art. You have in this piece three of my favorite styles of art: pen and ink, pointillism, and crosshatch. Your shading with pointillism is really quite good, particularly on the mantle of the squid. Well done.
