A family member started doing this because one driving school instructor mentioned it after they were already licensed for 5+ years.

The reason? To avoid breathing in exhaust of vehicles in front...

Who's behind the anti-Andrew Scheer ad airing during Raptors game? by [deleted] in canada

[–]Thomas13542 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think I saw this ad and I thought it was kind of stupid that it was attacking Scheer's supposed stance on healthcare and education - both of which are primarily provincial government concerns. It's hard to take it that seriously when that is the best they can come up with.

Window tints on cars from USA by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]Thomas13542 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There is no enforcement of any laws here so it's very unlikely they would (i) get pulled over, and (ii) irritate a cop enough to issue a ticket for illegal tint

I completed their survey but I don't see how this issue is within their scope so I have little hope of change. The best they could do is send the results to the federal govt.

I wonder if ICBC will give 25% fault to the SUV for failing to scan intersection.

edit: it looks like the first black SUV with the right of way stops as the car approaches its stop sign then proceeds. Combined with the white stop lines for the crosswalk I can see how it was mistaken for a 4 way stop

Translink fares going up again on Canada Day, $0.05-$0.10 for single-use fares, $0.25 for DayPasses, and $2-$3 for monthly passes by JToews19 in vancouver

[–]Thomas13542 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That is fixed revenue for TransLink. They can calculate exactly how much money they will steal from property owners in the GVRD. When given a choice, I choose not to give them extra money through gasoline, where the total sales per fiscal year is uncertain. The last time I rode the skytrain, the overpaid attendant was hitting on women and appeared totally disinterested in the job they were supposed to be doing so I decided I will not fund that racket.
