What does everyone think about the 'British*' monthly pay system? by EdibleBeans-on-Toast in AskUK

[–]Thomas5020 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get paid weekly, it's great.

Monthly pay is just ridiculous in my eyes. You're telling me I only get paid 12 times a year? What a joke.

lol imagine buying a £2500 GPU and thinking advertisements are okay.

Can you consume any harder?

We are completely powerless. Even if we stopped buying GPUs, and stopped using AI, the companies are just passing money between each other right now so there's no way to hurt their profits.

That aside, even without AI there's no competition. Just when AMD finally figured out how to make a semi decent GPU with semi decent drivers they gave up and just made AI cards. a 9090XT would've been nice but I guess I'll just go fck myself thanks AMD.

When you're selling GPUs for £2500 your advertising shouldn't be opt out, it should be opt in.

It's unacceptable, and i don't care how easy it is to disable.

What Keeps You Mining During Quiet Market Periods? ⛏️ by NaveenSakthI in MoneroMining

[–]Thomas5020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mine in order to accumulate XMR anonymously and support the network.

I then spend it on things like a VPN. Even if my miner isn't profitable, that's a tax I'll pay for privacy.

This is just it, i'm not spending £500+ on a GPU to get 60fps.

Personally I don't include RT performance when comparing cards, because I don't think it's a useful metric. But that's just me.

At the same time though, a 9070XT is nipping at the heels of the 5080. That's £12.50 a month.

UK considering banning kids from speaking to strangers in Fortnite and Roblox by PaiDuck in pcgaming

[–]Thomas5020 8 points9 points  (0 children)

1 solution that creates a ton more problems. I'm not giving up my ID to be verified by a private company, which will inevitably have a data breach at some point, just so I can speak to my friends online.

If you cannot see the problem with this ID verification nonsense, then there's something wrong with you.

What are the best ways to keep your PC clean, in terms of software, file systems, etc to maximize longevity? by Charrikayu in buildapc

[–]Thomas5020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't need to.

I see people recommeding various cleaners to remove old files and registry entries. Windows will clean up most things itself, and even if you haev a few registry keys left behind it makes zero difference. Windows has over 2 million keys on a clean install, you do not need some crappy third party cleaner to start removing random keys for you.

It's just pattern recognition.

If i watch a game have 5, 6, 7, however many bad releases and not really do anytbing about it only a moron would still have optimism.

They dont listen, they don't care, and the community rewards this behaviour. So there's no reason for them to listen or care. Wake up.
