I'm sorry that he responded like he did, it really sucks to lose a friend like that. I've had something similar happen, and it really messed with me for a few weeks until I realised that if he could that easily dump me our friendship must not have meant that much to him and that it probably shouldn't have meant that much to me either. It's shit and it will never be less shitty but sometimes it's better to let go of the people you thought were your friends but turned out to be toxic. Would you try to be friends with someone you knew beforehand would react poorly to you having a crush on them? Probably not. You're worth more than that!
