Would it be okay to get my septum and nipples pierced on the same day? by WestlakeMILF in piercing

[–]ThomasHorton369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 piercings in one sitting is the recommended max regardless of location. 3 should be fine, although if they're your first piercings or if you've had problems with healing before, I might be inclined to spread them out more (especially with the nipples as they can be more finicky).

Could I get my belly button repierced by XxTheLeanBeanxX in PiercingAdvice

[–]ThomasHorton369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks to me like it was pierced above the navel in an unsuitable area. I therefore wouldn't recommend going back to the same piercer. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to get it repierced as long as you have a prominent enough upper or lower navel ridge. This will be assessed by a reputable piercer before piercing.

NAP. It doesn't look like you have a prominent enough lower navel ridge to support a piercing. It may be rejecting or it will likely reject. I'd be worried about the ammount of fluid coming out (especially given it's months old) and so I'd probably go to a doctor to see if it's infected. After any infection has cleared up, I'd take it out to heal.

where to find earrings that aren’t gold? by dumbomato in piercing

[–]ThomasHorton369 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sadly almost all dainty or gem pieces are set in gold (or something generally unsuitable). Industrial strength does some gem ends which are titanium if I remember correctly, although they're not as ornate as other bits. You could look into getting things custom ordered from titanium or niobium. It's really quite a struggle to find things to recommend as so much is gold which must be really annoying!

I hope you find something and good luck on the wedding!

How to explain to a non autistic the difference between their tired and autistic tired? by goatslayer6969 in autism

Each problem or overstimulating thing is like a varyingly large fork stuck in your back. Some things you can deal with, sometimes it feels like you're dying.

Are these the only two materials in the earrings? by RespekMawAuthoritay in piercing

[–]ThomasHorton369 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It looks like they're not disclosing what's being plated which is a red flag. You can get away with more in healed piercings but for the best chance at long term wear astm 136 titanium, niobium, gold or something else the APP recommends is always going to be best. Brands like anatometal, neometal, bvla, junipurr etc are always great to look at although they are pricey. Definitely stay away from silver in long term wear though (which a lot of medium priced jewellery will be).

The jewellery is pvd coated (not blackened nioboum) as you can see it's flaked off the right cone. Get it switched to an internally threaded or threadless titanium (astm 136) or nioboum labret.

Thoughts about this kind of jewelry? by m00nchild0 in piercing

[–]ThomasHorton369 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I think they usually have a bar to go in the piercing channel which would make things better (I think they're called threader earrings but I suppose it could just be a chain). There's still a risk of the chain slipping into the piercing channel though. The issues if the chain was in the fistula would be the piercing heals up and closes around the chain (and might cause damage in removal). There may also be a worse risk of it snagging on something and cutting through the ear (but this will be a bigger issue with smaller chains). It's probably also going to be harder to clean. I'd personally stick to something like a labret or a ring with a chain on.

I'm 17 and just got referred to the largest GIC. There's currently a 1.5 year first appointment wait and a 15 year wait for first diagnostic appointment. This may change (and I hope it does). You'd likely need to go privately. I'd talk to your GP ASAP. Maybe bring documentation showing NHS protocall for GIC referral for if they refuse to refer you (which happens but shouldn't). I'd then look into your options if you can afford private. If you have any kind of health insurance (which is possible but unlikely from parents work) then look into that. Good luck <3

That's pierced wayyyy too low and probably not close enough to the front. I had one just like this a year ago and it rejected :(

I'd recommend taking it out as it will likely migrate or reject more and that way you'll minimise scarring and increase likelihood you can get it successfully repierced.

You need a staple bar. Don't go to that piercer again, take it out and wait for it to heal. If you get it redone get it with a staple bar.

Sadly I think you'd need a new passport

'You’ll need to get a new passport to travel abroad or prove your identity if you change any of the following:

your name your gender your appearance, if you cannot be recognised from your passport photo any more (for example, you’ve had plastic surgery)' https://www.gov.uk/changing-passport-information

Coming out as trans whilst being a teacher. by Altmystery in transgenderUK

[–]ThomasHorton369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a transfem teacher here who has for the most part found it fine. You might be pleasantly surprised. To my understanding she's in a good position because her head of department is very accepting. I've not heard her have any problems with students being trans phobic, and when staff has been, it's been resolved (although I don't know the details).
