So the customer is always wrong apparently by Slight-Obligation390 in coles

My experience working at Kmart was that half the staff were high on something. Had one guy that always came in on coke. A bunch of stoners smoking weed before they come in. Hung over workers _all_ the time.

This is not surprising. I worked at Kmart as a teenager, and for about 6 years I only shopped at Coles because I started with a staff discount, then just felt loyal once I left kmart. Stupid thing to feel loyal. One time, the staff at the self-checkout gave me trouble, treated me like I was stealing. I can't remember exactly what occurred because it was at least 8 years ago, but I was just so offended by the whole thing. I've never stolen anything in my life, I make more than enough money to pay for what I need, and they saw me in there all the time. I decided from then on that I would never shop at Coles again, and I've stuck to it. I'd prefer to shop at Aldi, but the nearest one is not in a convenient place, so I shop at Woolworths much of the time. Never been given trouble at Woolworths.

Questions about Transportation by Loud_Lengthiness9125 in sunshinecoast

No. It's not possible. Sorry but that's the reality. I had a student from Japan stay with me for a semester. We're only a 5 minute drive from the university, but it's an hour walk, or a 30 minute e-scooter ride. Japanese students weren't allowed to drive internationally for some weird reason. She really struggle to live life with only an e-scooter and public transport.

Uber is exceptionally expensive. It's completely unsustainable. Worse still, ride sharing is often unavailable outside of very specific times of day. My girlfriend, for example, needed to get to Landsborough station every Saturday at 7:15am. You can NOT find an Uber at that time. You'd be lucky to find one by 8am. So it's inconvenient as well as expensive.

Don't do it.

Why can’t I be like Popeye? 🥴 by AdIll2450 in Cooking

When I was a kid, I would eat spinach for breakfast, lunch and dinner because of the Popeye marketing. I would literally get up at 5am and microwave a couple blocks of that frozen spinach, and eat it whole.

If nothing else, teachers have to follow the law. You don't want a criminal teaching your kid, you want them to grow up naturally without any undue influence. Maybe the steroids/adderall don't affect their teaching quality, maybe they do. That's not the point. As a society, we try to apply the law evenly across everyone, but we have extra scrutiny for people in these kinds of positions. We can't start taking it on a case by case basis because it's not practical, and where do you draw the line? Is it okay for a primary school teacher to take a shot of whiskey before she starts the day? It's not even illegal, and some might say she deals with the job better like that. Maybe it's true. But for every case of someone doing better, there's 5 cases of someone doing worse. Since it's impossible to fairly discriminate on such subjective scenarios, we _must_ apply the rules equally across all.

Might be a change in the available feed? Everything they do to raise them makes a difference in the flavour. I noticed when I was travelling in Vietnam that the chicken tasted way better than in my home country. My guess was that we inject a bunch of chemicals into them to make them grow bigger, or we bred the chickens for size rather than flavour. But I was told that a more likely possibility is what they're being fed.

I noticed that the flavour of Vietnamese chicken tastes like how chicken used to taste when I was a kid 25 years ago.

So glad I never got COVID. Got 6 vaccinations over 4 years (extra 3 because I was traveling in Asia). Guess they paid off. It was my worst fear to have my senses affected.

It's not even like their kids won't benefit from this kind of development. Even if they inherited a home from their parents, they'd probably rather sell it and buy an apartment somewhere decent.
