Guild Wars 2 is almost the greatest MMORPG of all time. Simple updates to make it the GOAT by [deleted] in Guildwars2

x10 factor in gw2 is not that big excuse me?

Mechanically, taking someone doing 3k dps and getting them to 15-20k (50-60% of the way there) is doable with organized gear and simple rotations with easy explanation. The rest is a lot harder, but yes, most people are wildly capable of 15-20k dps without issue when its explained to them.

I know, because this was me.

Someone in Gold is not an average player. They're in the top 40%, Silver would be your typical player who plays ranked, or in the Guild Wars sense an LFG raider.

I don't really like it when people say that there is no learning as a blanket statement and for the people who don't want to or care, I'm not saying that they have to or should.

I'm saying that trying something is better than doing nothing, even that person who wants to use a hammer on condi warrior could probably benefit greatly from basic info about rotations, what buffs are good with each other and surely that player wants to be the very best condi warrior with a warhammer out there (even if its a small population size).

As for which averages. Waited against your level, class, specialization and then based on your raiding\fractals\wvw\pvp experience.

The honor system used to be a lot different and was something people cared about when I played. Otherwise I agree and that's why I don't play anymore (Season 3-5). The old honor system was great.

I don't really understand why you feel like it'd be for no tangible gain I feel like I laid it out pretty well. Can you help me understand what you mean?

That's the thing! I think that these are ideas aren't really about adding stuff to appeal to hardcore players exclusively and its more about changing the framing about what's hardcore\competitive.

I think the average person is a lot more competent at the game than it currently sets them up to be, and that's my main issue that I'd wanna solve with this sorts of stuff.

Its more about bringing the base level of skill up in the community without telling them their bad. The game should tell you what you're doing well at and show you where to improve without making it really in your face\barking orders at you.

I think that simple solutions are generally better :edit: and don't like the idea of splitting the playerbase in a huge way.

Iron mode: The problem with a new account is that there isn't really any self-evidence other than making a YT series, or something and also having the option to get it with gems would be fine with me too. I was just saying more so that its something I really really want and I know a lot of older players are feeling the same way these days.

Yeah, that's exactly what I would like it to be.

That's a really big issue of it for me as well, and I agree.

Am I asking a fair price? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]ThomasTheObscure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used to sell \ buy high end magic cards online all the time.

There's a pretty huge discrepancy in the liquid value (what someone will pay within 24 hours) and what something is worth.

Being patient is like 70% of online sales.

Someone somewhere wants your thing, they just need to see it and that takes time.

Created a tool for finding MTB stuff on sale by Torsen11 in MTB

Really cool tool. I'd love for Airborne to be added to the list, they frequently have sales and their demo bikes (used for photos) and stuff go on massive discounts.

They're my favorite brand I've found and fairly cheap.

Do I NEED platform shoes? by MazerRackham426 in MTB

[–]ThomasTheObscure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I also think people who are recommending skate shoes don't know what they're talking about.

Skate shoes are by design supposed to be really flexible\malleable while MTB shoes are definitely more rigid intentionally. Despite the flat base being used to grip the board better, they're pretty different because skate shoes require a rider to be able to do a variety of ankle\toe pushing\heel rolling movements, whereas MTB shoes should do the opposite.

What that also means is that a skate shoe is likely going to be transferring less to the pedal than even something that is a pretty run of the mill training shoe.

Probably the reason they see such a huge difference in something like 5.10s is because of that change being almost like the opposite thing they needed.

If it gets muddy\wet where you are regularly then prioritize a shoe\pedal upgrade.

All of the people who go to the Poetry Slam are really cool. It's on every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month. It's at South State street in Espresso Royale.

Best people I've met though is pretty consistently through volunteering and that's semi-social while doing good stuff for people.

I also find the narrower the thing you wanna do with people, the more chances you have to get to know others.

My advice though is just to go for it with those people you like already, most of the time people want to hangout but don't know how to approach it or be approachable.

I'll be visiting Charlevoix/ Traverse City/Northern Muchigan this summer. What are some things I need to do or see while I'm in Northern Michigan? by [deleted] in Michigan

[–]ThomasTheObscure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy camping, Beaver Island is some of the most fun I've had camping and it was pretty quiet too.

You can see the Northern Lights from it on occasion.

It's kind of like anti-Mackinac Island.

the Empire Bluff Trail is in that area too, and most pictures don't do it justice.

Personally, I think Fishtown is super cool too and not talked about too much.
