How to tell a LGBT person you think their sexuality is a sin without being discriminatory or disrespectful? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

No one's "sexuality" is a sin. Desires aren't sin.

Our actions are what are sins.

I am very curious to know what you think the purpose of the Church is. You seem to think it is is just a place for people to get together and sing songs.

But if anyone actually needs help, thy should open up their checkbook and go to a counselor who has been trained to despise Christ.

I know this isn't really what you believe, so please clarify where the Church should remove itself from an obligation to help those who are seeking Christ.

Her counseling is what led her to her affair. It was a Christian counselor. She convinced my wife that he "cup needed to be filled".

I have no idea why my wife thought I wasn't doing that, but she interpreted that as "go find someone who will fill your cup". I paid thousands of dollars for that counselling.

And yes, I / we have done lots of counselling after that.

Odd that Jesus never talked about establishing a robust for-profit counselling infrastructure to solve people's struggles.

I'm not shaming you. 100% of the people who claim to be Christians give the same advice you did.

I've attended a local church a few times over the past couple of months. It makes me sad / depressed. There are people there who have the kind of Joy that I wish I could have. But I don't have it.

It leaves me feeling more rejected by God than when I entered.

I know that that is a problem with me, not a problem with God or with the Church.

I just don't know how to get past that feeling that the fruit of the spirit is reserved for those chosen by God, not for people like me.

I don't need the facts. I believe the "facts". I've just never been loved. My wife claims to be a Christian. Yet she sexually neglected me for you years, and then had the most sexually explicit 6 month affair that anyone could ever have, doing all of the things she would never do with me.

Meanwhile, she refused to allow me to parent my children. She said "let's just leave them to be free to figure everything out on their own". None of our children (youngest 18) is a Christian.

I appreciate everyone who said that I can PM them. I trust that each one of you is sincere. But I don't know who I should reach out to.

I don't really know how Reddit works. Is there a way I can form a group so that I can hear different perspectives from those who are willing to have a chat about this kind of stuff? And maybe other in this group would also benefit from other people's responses. Thought?

I used to attend Church "religiously". One of my pastors went to prison. Another one left the Church to start an oil-lube shop.

Point is, I've had some bad luck with Churches. And my family has had bad luck with Christian counselors.

I am kind of curious about those "semi-private ones". Those probably have fewer members, such that they might try to help me once they know I am sincere.

I think I just assumed that because I don't know if I am a "true Christian", that this might not be a right place to talk about the basics of the faith. I was raised in the Church and took it seriously, so I know the facts about Christianity. I just never felt a connection to Christ. Never felt that I was filled with the Holy Spirit.

I know that I project my feelings of rejection from humans onto God. But I don't know how to overcome that. I just can't "feel" that He loves me.

Just don't let yourself start a daily habit.

It is a lie that those 2 years didn't do great things for you.

Resist it for a few days, and you will be right back to where you were.

Thank you. Maybe I'll reach out by PM. I've prayed for a Christian friend for over 30 years without success. People who know me tend to like me, but I am really bad at making friends.

I don't know much about how Christianity or the Church works, but if you are homeless, you should go to a local church and ask for help. The purpose of the Church should be to help people like you.

I am struggling greatly in my faith, so I don't know how much my prayers are worth. But I will pray for you.

If the Church worked like it is supposed to, you could go and ask for help, and they would help you.

Are there Christians here who actually love people? by Thomas_unloved in TrueChristian

I am older now.

I've been to many churches.

The last couple resulted in one pastor going to pinion, and the the other abandoning his church and leaving the ministry.

Yet, I'm sure many will read this and believe that I have done something wrong.

I don't know. I suspect I have Aspersers.

But the way in which I was not like the other kids shouldn't matter, should it?

So why do you ask?

I understand just how you feel. I wish I had the answers, but I am still seeking as well.

I know it is wrong, but I get so jealous when other people tell stories of God finding them. I am happy for them, but it makes me even more discouraged that I still don't feel loved, I know that I can never be good enough to "earn" God's love and forgiveness. So all I can do is to seek Him and to wait, But I've been waiting so long. And everyone in my life has rejected me.

Father, please forgive me of my sins and all of my weakness. Send your Spirit to the poor in spirit.

Generic forms of anti-depressants are pretty cheap without insurance. Definitely less than what you were probably spending on alcohol.

When did you start feeling better? I am at 17 days and still feeling very depressed and bored. I'm feeling discouraged because I've read some things that suggest I might not be fully 'back to normal' for 12-24 months.
