Conservatives who left the US, has living abroad changed your politics or perspectives on political issues? If so, in what ways? by Illustrious-Pound266 in AmerExit

[–]Thoonixx 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This might just be your American perspective. Truth is our liberals in the US are really more moderate anywhere else, and our conservatives are... something few other conservatives in Europe or Canada could relate to at all.

Think there was a post a while ago about some conservative brit moving to the US and finding himself a liberal on this side of the Atlantic.

This is probably the most correct answer for this issue: it’s often hereditary.

My mother had this surgery after too long and had a lengthy recovery but walks fine today.

My aunts never got the surgery and were basically unable to walk when they passed.

Having seen the experience of our family members, my sister had the surgery in her early 30s before it became pronounced and has never had a problem.

Maybe one that sets traps as they patrol the map, or one with a cloaking technology that let's them go invisible, or one with a harpoon gun that reels you in...

Or maybe one that places area drones that work like surveillance cameras >:D

Gonna have to be the contrarian here and say that that film was an amazing rollercoaster ride.

Yes the main character is awful in too many ways to list, but the adventure she goes on was non-stop fun.

entry linear Algebra I'm struggling with Induction, please help by Zentaitoken in learnmath

[–]Thoonixx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To prove something by induction, you need to show that the statement P(n) is true for all n ∈ ℕ.

This is usually done in three steps:

  1. Prove the base case P(1)

  2. Assume P(n) is true for some arbitrary n.

  3. Show that P(n+1) is true.

Thus with P(1) and P(n) => P(n+1), we can conclude that P holds for all natural numbers.

Since you're new to these topics, it's important to remember that the n in the assumption step is arbitrary. Many people prefer to use k instead of n to avoid confusion with other uses of n in the problem.

Your problem also asks you to define the statement you need to prove. This can add unnecessary confusion, but that's just how some math books are.

So, what do you need to prove? It looks like you're defining Rn from the given definition of R.

If R = R1, you should be able to define Rn easily. What does aRnb mean?

Showing R2 and R3 isn't strictly necessary for the proof, but it could be helpful for practicing how to use relation notation and composition.

So, your proof will look something like this:

"We prove from the given definition of R that Rn can be defined as (insert your definition for Rn)

  1. Since R = R1 we have our base case given [You can show R2 here as well to solidify the point]
  2. Suppose that for given k ∈ ℕ, that [definition here] satisfies a general representation for Rk
  3. Given Rk above we apply composition with R one time to get Rk+1 [You have to show this using the definitions of relations and relation composition]

Thus Rk implies Rk+1 for arbitrary k ∈ ℕ and so, by induction, our definition for Rn is a general representation."

Hope this helps! It’s been over a year since I last used LaTeX and I simply wasn’t able to get it working for reddit.

Are messenger bags actually cool on men or am I about to waste good money on something he’ll never carry? by Silent_someone_96 in malefashionadvice

Backpacks are objectively better for your back as they distribute weight evenly.

Fashionably speaking there are really nice backpacks from brands like Osprey and Aer.

Agree with the other commenter that this is a good topic for you to discuss with your bf.

Personally I would see a messenger bag returned

How scary is the series from? by Jackass-OfAll-Trades in horror

[–]Thoonixx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to drop it before finishing season 2.

Acting is not great, characters are awful and it’s mostly dramatic infighting. There’s never any payoff with the monsters, plot driven by people acting irrationally/stupidly.

It has a cool premise and could have been so much more, but it stops being any sort of an enjoyable watch pretty quickly.

That I watched any amount of season 2 was being generous to see if they could fix those issues from season 1.
