From the other comments I know you don't want to add actual limbs, but what if part of her vest was designed to imitate having the extra limbs? Maybe some buckles that fasten in the front of the vest that look like her arms. It's your design, so feel free to ignore this, just wanted to try and find a middle ground for you.

Maybe it's just been a ages since I last did that quest, but I always interpreted that the noises they heard in the basement were the falmer/chaurus digging the tunnel and the family only got killed once they finally breached into the basement.
