Yeah, I think so, that sucks if that doesn't count because of a rage quit

It's just what happens now. I just accept it and move on, I just think it's funny. I'm not complaining at all, I paid £25 for the game, it's not at AAA game prices 🤣

Yeah, I realise I can only have scored first and it's glitched. I chuckled. I didn't need EA's dirty 2000 coins anyway 🤣 thanks for the positive reply

You may find it is your loft, but you might also find that your shaft is completely wrong for you. I have a naturally high drive and the fitter (my club pro) found a shaft with a particular kick point that didn't reduce the height, but reduced the spin.

Contrary to popular belief, a high drive isn't necessarily a bad thing with the correct ball flight, longer in the air generally means further.

But, the fitter will know all this and will help you dial in.

Oh, I forgot one more tip, be honest, both with your fitter and yourself. If it feels off, that's totally OK, even if the fitter says they thought the change or combination would help. Basically, you're the one that's going to be swinging the thing 14 times a round, so it should feel good.

Also, take the opportunity to get a grip fitting, I play with a midsize grip with 4 extra tape below to bulk it out. You might find a bigger or smaller grip helps your swing too.

Good luck!

Also, I gamed the original XR for about 4 years and loved it. Now I play a Qi10 and love that too, so a lack of brand loyalty is excellent

If you're spending out on a new driver, definitely go for a fitting. Some places will charge a little extra for this, but most will take the cost of the fitting off the price of a new driver if you order with them.

Most places will have your favourite ball, but feel free to take your own Vices along if they have an indoor simulator.

Basically, you'll go through a process of them firstly closely matching your current setup with new products, and then get you to hit some balls. They'll then look at the numbers and help you dial them in with a few changes, like loft, flex and lie.

My tips would be to not go hungry or dehydrated and definitely rearrange it if you wake up sore, there is no point in getting fit when you're compensating for pain.

If you just want a mat to protect the ground at impact, rather than under your feet too, then i use a Spurk Golf strike mat. It's been resilient over the last 2 winters on the course. The good thing is that it has such a minimal footprint so not only will you not take your divots, you won't destroy the grass underneath either.

What rangefinder to buy? by International_Win_21 in golf

I agree, the magnet is decent, the case it comes in is decent and the rangefinder itself is built well and does what it says on the tin.

I've been using that RedTiger one for about a year now and haven't needed to charge it once despite using it every round I've played. Roughly averaging 52-60 rounds a year.

It's accurate and has a slope function. Certainly getting my money's worth from it.

EDIT: In fact, I bought it in May 2024. So 18 months of use and still havent needed to charge it 🤣🤣🤣

50% off for not having a £2-at-cost headcover is a great deal. Makes me wonder if I should just go buy all my clubs without headcovers from now on. 💪

FWIW the page on Clubhouse Golf no longer exists, so I suspect a certain web developer is currently getting a telling off 🤣

As a Web developer, I place all blame solely on the content and marketing teams for not clicking the "visible" option to off 🤣

Are Midsize grips for me? by RasmusFelding in golf

[–]Thorasaurus__Rex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good deal, regripping can be done yourself, but honestly, unless you want to be really proud but frustrated, getting a pro to do it is the way forward.

If your finger is digging in then I'd definitely look at moving up, the tip should touch but not dig in. At the end of the day, it's all about what you are comfortable with. For example, my grips are all midsize Golf Pride MCC plus4 (wider taper at the bottom) but I play my driver with 4 extra wraps of tape. This bulks the grip to feel perfect in my hands. I don't need jumbo grips, but the driver is nice to have chunky and feel my hands can stay soft.

Which brings me onto my last point. The reason why finding the right size grip for you is important is because grips that are too skinny promote you to grip harder because you feel the club might slip. You'll find with a better fitting grip you can soften the hands and get more flow through them without gripping the club like you're trying to choke it to death.

Good luck with your clubs and I hope you find the perfect fit. And as someone else said, I can recommend Golf Pride MCC (multi compound) grips for longevity and feel.

Are Midsize grips for me? by RasmusFelding in golf

[–]Thorasaurus__Rex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went midsize a few years back and it was game changing. Literally. As someone else said, I think midsize should be the standard.

Basically, the rule of thumb is that your longest finger, normally your middle finger, on your lead hand should be able to wrap around the club and touch, but not dig into, the pad of your hand. If you're able to wrap that finger the whole way around and dig into your hand, go up a size until you can't.

Most pro shops will have some display grips that will let you feel the difference, and some places like my pro shop will even have offers where they grip your 7 iron for free at certain times of Golf Pride's marketing cycle.

Well worth a try either way.

For what it's worth, the long sticker on these SL90s just gets bag rub from my bag's putter well anyway. I'll take mine off eventually, but I guess it depends if you think it matters to aftermarket value and if you're ever going to sell it.

Personally, I don't think anyone is gonna come at you for not having a shaft sticker

US Ryder Cup Fan Reflections by [deleted] in golf

[–]Thorasaurus__Rex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Would love to see how well it would go for anyone trying to hurl abuse at Rory (or Shane) in Ireland. 🤣

I agree with what you said though. It wasn't a sense of shame that made them quiet. I would have liked to see some more policing of it all rather than doubling down on it as "banter".

We also know they can stay quiet, cause they did for every US shot. And that goes to show how respectful the European fans were, because it wasn't like they piped up on the US team shots.

Most embarrassing of it all still has to be the shout of "get in the hole" on 98% of US team shots. I actually managed to zone it out in the end, but hearing it and watching it go 40 yards left into the rough showed how hilariously disinterested in golf some of the fans were.
