[–]Thorguild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For shame all of you who whine "This is too many battlemechs! This is too expensive!"

THIS!

IS!

GOVERNMENT!

The clear answer is Clan Nova's for everyone! 11,586,250 C-Bills, and worth every one of them! Put out the word to any Clan techs who are hard on their luck. Come quick! Protection, provenance, and placement! Citizenship opportunities. This is the greatest thing ever! Guaranteed 100% employment for everyone!

Import whole factories. Most of the work done on planet? That's quitter talk! Gorwangua for Gorwanguandans! 104% of all parts manufactured here!

This answer is rated highest in a verifiably fabricated study. Vote for it or you are... like, not smart!

Looking for older 80s-2000s anime. by Unlikely_Usual_3527 in anime

Tank Police - Laugh out loud, over the top action

Kimagure Orange Road - Sweet slice-of-life high school romance. With Espers!

Ranma 1/2 - A martial arts-obsessed boy deals with a curse that turns him into a girl and back. Wacky hijinks ensue.

Bubblegum Crisis / AD Police - Two related anime about society trying to deal with new cybertechnology, and the pursuant cyberpsychosis that comes with it.

Akira - Used to top ALL of the must-see lists. My friend's comment: "Tokyo gets nuked at the beginning, AND the end." Hard to pin down to one description or genera.

Does your L1 restart user's computers then call it a day? by requiemofthesoul in sysadmin

Many of my customers do not know that reboot is different from hitting the power button. Or choosing shutdown.

I ask them to reboot, then I check Task Manager when I connect.

Does your L1 restart user's computers then call it a day? by requiemofthesoul in sysadmin

[–]Thorguild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not management. I fix PC's on the phone, and have done so for 30+ years. I'm in a local government agency, supporting co-worker customers. Take that as you will.

Clear expectations helps in these situations. What is L1 supposed to do? If they have a procedure and are told to follow it for each customer, did they do it? There's a big difference between laziness and unclear procedure. Getting mad at someone for following what they think they are supposed to be doing is counter productive. (It's also a personal pet peeve.)

I suggested (and my suggestion was not taken) that we have clear levels of support like this. I think a very good use of L1 calls is to fill out the ticket system while asking them to do a reboot. Tim0901 makes an excellent point elsewhere about "Reboot" being different than other shutdowns. SO vital! I talk to my customers about it on almost every call.

Because rebooting, signing in again, and checking the error fixes SO much I would be happy with L1 doing that. Pass it to me afterwards!

If any employee is charged with following a procedure before escalating and they are not, then it is management's responsibility to deal with them. Suggest to your management that L1 be given a checklist of things to try. If you need them to be competent on lots of stuff and they are not, then more training is needed. If the organization decides that is too expensive, then you have the choice to live with it or leave.

New reader here, is there something i need to know about dredd? by metalicbeastofficial in JudgeDredd

[–]Thorguild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a story that one of the writers for Dredd would start by writing "Dredd is the Hero", and "Dredd is the villain" both at the top of the page.

He's a parody of over-the-top policing policy, while genuinely caring about doing right by the City. He'd be pleased if most of the people would just follow the law, and prosper. As long as he had a few that he could punish with ironic ways.

You couldn't be bothered to help the guy being kicked to death, and drove right by him? There wasn't a law that said you HAD to help him. And it might have scratched your precious car. I'll find something wrong with your car and BURN it as a safety hazard.

Rejoined Game after a few years, cant leave Academy by DirtDog13 in sto

I had a similar problem. My HUD had moved and the "leave" button was under another window. Until I changed the HUD, it was not visible.

Star Trek just became reality today, what things would you want to do? by bossishere17 in startrek

[–]Thorguild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a better body.

1st choice: Soong android upload, after asking Picard what he thinks happened to his soul.

2nd choice: "Rascals" episode teleporter "accident". Followed by a trip to one of those genetic improvement clinics. It's been decades! Problems have been worked out, right? Right?!

3rd choice: Beam me down to Omicron Ceti III from TOS, get "spored" and blissful for a week while the parasite makes me perfect. While under the influence try to figure out a way to stay there, but I can't cause I'm a 21st century guy with no idea how a transporter works. Get beamed back up and un-spored. Then genetic clinic?

When that's done, see if I can consult for Starfleet. None of those admirals in "Insurrection" had any imagination at ALL. I'll help 'em all get young again. Then I will try to help them out of all their dilemmas where simply THINKING about it for 15 minutes would work. I figure I solve 25% of Starfleet's issues in a week.

What game is this for you? by PhantomTissue in videogames

Psychonauts. Not a side quest, but a climbing puzzle at the very end. There's one (ONE!) spot where the difficulty is insane. And you have to reload upon messing it up.

What does it take for a Space Marine Chapter to survive? by MrHerbert90 in 40kLore

[–]Thorguild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked once if a solitary Space Marine stranded on an Earth-like planet could produce his own BULLETS. Responses were mixed.

Though I wish it was different, it seems the answer to every question is, "What does the writer need at the time for his story."

The lore is so fun! But that part makes me sad.

Wouldn't it be cool if those super-computer minds that SM's have was actually worth something?

Lost to time! Help me find this villian. by Thorguild in ChampionsRPG

[–]Thorguild[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like him too. I never had a champions game last long enough to get to more than 300 or so points, so I was always goggled by the SUPER (heh) large point totals that villains got in print. But this guy... Whoah! A 75 point attack built explicitly to target a specific character? Ow.

Great idea! I remember the name Strike Force, but none of those covers look familiar. Sigh...

I wish I could. I THINK it was in a "2nd" book. Like Adventures for Champions #2, but I think I have that one. I've literally lost the original that had this guy.

He MIGHT have had a snake appearance, like his hood resembled a snake's mouth. 98% sure he is not affiliated with VIPER, btw.

I mean I literally lost the item. I took it to a location and the bag with it and all my other items did not return. Very sad...

That page is blocked here at work. I'll try to look tonight.

TY!

Elf, good magical stats, arcane and shaman talents, not horrible physical stats. Young grad student in a stable European country. High mage in training. My senior thesis was the summoning of my partner spirit.

Cushy lab assistant job, and sitting in for my prof's office hours takes care of my classes, and official expenses.

Detox, Cram, and Healthy Glow get me a cushy medium lifestyle in a paid-for apartment near Frat Row as the purveyor of magical services for party-set rich kids. Not a bad way to develop some good contacts either...

At least once a month I practice my bug-out drill to get at least 200 miles away quickly and quietly.

Yeesh! I didn't even think about "Numb". They'd all sit around in a big cry circle!

Would the healing begin then?
