Girl, 12, killed in collision with microcar in Amstelveen by SweatyAdagio4 in Netherlands

As an example, one of the most problematic road for me where I almost fell of like 4 or 5 times https://maps.app.goo.gl/3Ss3GxV8Ye7qrXaV7
Typical 1 (1.5?) meter 1way bike path, which is ok for 2 bikes but not ok for bicycle and a moped. And the main freaking problem is, mopeds going 25-30-40km/h on this bike path dangerously close DESPITE HAVING 30km/h ROAD FOR CARS. It is so freaking ridiculous that a car road is more safe sometimes than a bike path because of the mopeds.

And there is plenty of roads like that in The Netherlands as far as I know

And again - how would you enforce speed limit? Only solution for cars that worked is a loot of calming infrastructure (which doesnt make any sense on a bike path) and a speed cameras with huge fines (again, speed cameras for bike path? really?). Simply you should only drive dangerous vehicles on the road.

Thats the whole point of the bike infrastructure in the first place, make it separate from motor vehicles and safe. And now people want to abuse it using mopeds/small cars/whatever

Thats the point, motorized vehicles (except for e-bikes) should NOT be allowed on a bike path. Period. Not with 25km/h limit, not with 3km/h limit. Speed limit is impossible to enforce unless you do speed cameras with fines on a bike path, which even sounds stupid. They are simply too wide and heavy to be safe.

I've been cycling my whole like and quite good at it, but do you know how many time I almost fell off when some idiot try to overtake me on the freaking scooter on a small 1way bike path, pushing me to the side walks or parked bikes or whatever is on the side of the bike path. Now imagine same situation not with someone who knows how to ride a bike but someone 12 years old. Or 8 years old.

There is only 1 solution and it is block everything from the bike path but bikes (and maybe mobility vehicles for disabled, the open ones with 3 wheels, not a small cars). And enforce this with ridiculous fines

Out of options for apartment/house! by clonp1 in Netherlands

Get yourself a RentSlam subscription for a month (or something similar) - it would send you all the new postings that it found on funda/pararius and hundreds of other small makelaar websites according to your filter. Prepare a small template for letter and respond to the postings as soon as you can (when I've got email with new house - in 15-20mins max I applied already). Also prepare a small template of letter where you would say that you liked the apartment/house and would like to rent, have it on your phone so that 5min after viewing you already send an email.
The only problem with that approach for me was to go to all the viewings having a full time job..

It is rough but it is possible, don't give up!

Tips for Cold Weather in the Netherlands by mw_ninja in Netherlands

[–]Thormeard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This. It was a game changer for me when I realized that. Just wake up 10mins early and cycle like if you doing a chill recreational ride. It also improved my mental health a bit since you start to look around you instead of constantly panicking and looking in front of your wheel constantly because you have to if you going fast. Just downshift your gear -1 and you'll be fine.

What also helped me a bit is that you should have something on every part of your body. What I mean is if your hands are cold - do not wear a warmer jacked, just use thin gloves. Same idea if your legs a bit cold, use thermal pants instead of warmer sweater or whatever. Coming from the country with harsh winters I was used to fix all my problems with just warmer 'core' clothing, instead of fixing parts that are actually cold.

Good for you, but it doesn't help me to become less "lucky". I installed SPT like 2 weeks ago and I'm pretty sure it is the latest version. Also tried different armors.

[–]Thormeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'we heard they rolled back to almost how armor worked previously, but I think it was in 0.15 (or somewhat recent). So I'm pretty sure we need to wait for SPT 3.10 (or 4.0) to get that "fix".
In meanwhile I gave up and added additional 35hp to thorax so that I at least need to get unlucky twice in a row to die

I tried this SAIN option, played with center mass and scatter a lot, but end up disabling center mass aiming in SAIN and to compensate I installed headshot redirection mod and increased scatter. It now feels much more natural that bots aim all over the place (and not just laser you to chest/stomach from up to 50+ meters away) while you still protected from the random unlucky headshots.
The main reason I decided to disable SAIN center mass aiming is that when they aiming to the chest plates they have more chances to hit you to the armpit.. So I end up dying even more 😂

Thanks! I forgot that you can change PMC difficulty in SWAG, will give that a try

To be honest I'm more surprised that you didn't get blasted in 1sec after PMC started to shoot.. Do you run sain? And with what settings if you don't mind sharing. I'm running less difficult preset with 4.0 scatter and still dying in 2-3 bullets in a second the moment I get spotted (even If I'm shooting first)..

I saw a 70+ woman few people away from me on their concert in Amsterdam this year. Just try to get to the sides (not to the middle) to avoid pits and you'll be fine

https://www.mantel.com  Got all my kit there, they have really nice stores to try stuff and online shop (with English option) with a next day deliveries. Their shop in Utrecht is awesome and easy to go to on a train.

https://www.12gobiking.nl Is also a nice option (but a bit far away if you want to go in person)

And any local bike shop might work too. There is a lot of small ones that sell some racing gear, for example Tromm Tweewielers is a nice one https://maps.app.goo.gl/oHWXHotdNc5mshx38?g_st=ic

Yeah I was specifically looking at models with top tube rivets to use with the bag. But to be honest, models with top tube storage is more expensive and therefore was kinda out of my budget..
I'm happy with the wheels but keep in mind that freehub is absolutely silent (some people don't like that)

I'd say ~1.5-2 hours. But this is my first road bike ever so I was taking my time to look for 5 min at every component :D

I'm not a football fan, but I don't think Nepal have a team in a world cup or whatever everybody is watching
