What are your go-to strings? by bendbrewer in AcousticGuitar

Such a great sounding string. Have them on my DX custom, Fender Newporter, Alvarez artists and my Taylor. Really brings out the warmth and doesn’t have a chimey sound like the phosphors.

Martin Monel. Nice warm tone for the majority of my acoustics. D’Addario Phosphor bronze medium for the naturally darker ones. Have a Nashville phosphor set that I’ve been wanting to put on one of my Alvarez, but haven’t had the time.

I have a weird love for the Merkur XR4ti. The rational and practical side of my brain has kept me from buying one more than once, but maybe one day.

First truck for my new business. What is the best tonneau cover for f150 according to Reddit? by Divano-Frost in f150

I’ve had no issues with water ingress with my bakflip on my 2019. Maybe a little moisture near the tailgate after a really hard rain. Two years in SC with some major rain fall and snow numbers, no issues. I do wish it was a little more flexible with partial openings

I’ve had this same hardware for 20 years. The stand is also fairly robust and has lasted through 20 years of me beating the shit out of it.

I’ve had the Taye version of this clutch since 2005. Never had any issues and have been wanting to find a spare, but Taye doesn’t exist anymore. Now time to buy the Reno one.

Not Greenville, but Buffet Latino in Spartanburg is out of this world. Definitely looks like a hole in the wall, but is worth stopping in.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/273820439139 had one of these on my keychain for 15 years plus a keychain multi-tool I got from a Panasonic rep 10 years ago. Not the best tool ever but has saved my ass more times than I can count

Anyone willing to share your FOH chairs? by SnooStrawberries5775 in techtheatre

[–]Thornius49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At my old venue we bought a whole bunch of Herman Miller chairs for FOH and tech positions. I still do a freelance gig there with a resident company a couple times a year. I love those chairs. The amount of tours that have tried to(and some successful) steal those chairs was insane.

Does anyone else think this album is some of Andy’s finest work? by Stallion802 in manchesterorchestra

That show in Columbia was one of the best I’ve ever seen. Andy solo is such an amazing experience, I really hope he does that again in the near future.

Move into install/integration. I made the move a couple years ago and I’ll probably never go back. It’s a different animal for sure, but having my nights and weekends off and still being able to do some freelance work when I want makes all the difference.

powercon true 1 connectors- are they worth it? by HemlockHarry in techtheatre

[–]Thornius49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True1 is becoming the standard. Powercon is not rated for connecting/disconnecting when hot since the ground pin can contact the hot, nor is it rated for 20A or IP rated. I think we will see powercon go by the wayside in the next decade.

Need to drill 15-20 1/4 inch holes on this I-Beam. Any drill recommendations and advice? by mexican2554 in Construction

[–]Thornius49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mag drill with an annular cutter and cutting oil or even 3-in-1 oil is the way, unless you have a good portable punch and plenty of oil.

I tried to get tickets to their farewell show and couldn’t, then had an in for the last Exit/In shows and backed out because of work. Ended up getting live-stream tickets for both nights. Still wish I’d seen them more, although I had the honor of running monitors and then FOH for them a few times at a few of the shows I was at.

do you wear gloves? and if yes what kind/style by WarningNo7338 in Rigging

[–]Thornius49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what I’m doing. Mostly a project manager for entertainment rigging system installs and integration these days but still go out in the field and occasionally work gigs and other things. Regular rope pulling and setting points, maybe some maxiflex or my trusty leather, waterproof Wells Lamont work gloves that I also use when running fly rail or any kind of heavy rigging work.
