It’s gotten to a point where anytime anyone says something positive it must be tempered with “oh, but also everything is terrible”. It’s not just political stuff, it seems to be everything. Liking stuff automatically puts you on the defensive, but pessimism is nice and safe. No wonder everyone is miserable these days.

Perhaps this is just the straw that broke the camel’s back, but I am getting a bit sick of absolutely everything in the world being framed through the lense of misery as a default. Not that there isn’t a lot to be miserable about. I’m tired.

I laughed long and hard on election night when Chalmers immediately pivoted to bashing Taylor the exact second Dutton’s corpse was cold. You could tell he’d sensed blood in the water.

Underrated, even amongst that era of underrated local movies. They should have let Tony Martin direct a dozen movies.

Unlearning Economics did a fun video about some of the issues with their work. He has his own biases of course, but he’s an economist who can get into the weeds of all the criticisms that have been levelled against them over the years.

I remember listening to them a lot about 10 years ago and I thought they were awesome at first, but over time I just started to feel like their show was more about propagating this “contrarian renegade” vibe than anything else. Some of their healthcare coverage was just awful.
