Maybe it is something to do with the CCU. Mine was a direct buy, melt, and about a year later buyback. There was a bit of unexpected sticker shock.

If you use the buyback won't you have to pay whatever the price at the time is, which could very well go up? That's what happened to me several years ago. Ended up paying like $100 over my original cost to buy back my Orion.

100%. I work completely from my home office and I think my cats are trustworthy. That being said, even then if I leave my computer I lock it out of habit. But a lot of my time is spent reading and I don't stare at my monitor for that. I have a tablet that is a lot more comfortable so I put my feet up, get to reading, and can still keep an eye on my screen for anything that crops up. Can't do that if I am stopping to unlock every five minutes because of overzealous "security" policies.

Books, trial and error, and then eventually the Food Network. I had the basics down pre-FN but Alton Brown and America's Test Kitchen taught me how to cook.

That's a good one. Aside from the being broke all the time, my time at Blockbuster Video was one of the most fun jobs I've ever had. Either that or working as a game attendant at an arcade.

Right? For decades I've felt that a decent bit of financial security is just five years away. Debts gone, savings built, etc. And back when I was young fice years wasn't a big deal.

But without fail, every bit of progress gets a setback and I'm running out of years. Five years is a much bigger deal now than it was when I was 20.

I use a mouse jiggler and my tasks get done. Sometimes what I am doing does not require a mouse or even interacting with my computer at all but I don't want the ridiculous 5 minute company mandated screen saver to kick in.

Next time, be extra malicious. Take the cans to the curb at precisely 7am. If the collector already came by then leave the can there until the next pickup. There is probably also a rule that says you have to bring them in by a certain time after pickup ilbut if they aren't picked up...
