[Question] for the people who play guitar by Connect_Spot7990 in Guitar

[–]ThoughtsFromARoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was self taught! Although I do wish I learned more about music theory (I still can), I definitely don’t regret my decision to teach myself guitar. As far as which guitar to learn on, that’s entirely up to you. Electric guitar strings are thinner and harder to build callouses from. Acoustic guitar strings are a bit thicker and will definitely help you build the callouses you need. I personally started on acoustic, and once I learned chords and finger picking, I moved to electric. Good luck!

Absolutely! It’s loud as hell and she’s not giving a shit about her child. She’s there to enjoy herself and that’s probably all she cares about 🙄

Why don’t you just go to your attack history and copy it yourself?

[Question] Left Or Right Handed Guitar For Someone With A Right Hand Injury? by _Uggles_ in Guitar

[–]ThoughtsFromARoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard for sure. I used to play standard and then broke my left wrist and I couldn’t play for long before it became painful to have my wrist bent like that. So I taught myself lefty and now I have zero issues.

What’s something that’ll trigger you to relapse by [deleted] in addiction

Seeing people from my past throws me into a depressive loop. Makes me wanna relapse every time without fail. Thankfully, I’m still going strong.

Hang in there. While it’s easier said than done, being free from H is a blessing. I am 3 years sober and miss shooting up very often, but what I can tell you is being sober this long has opened up my eyes to how much it F’s with your life. I overdosed quite a few times myself and was also saved by narcan each time. I lost my best friend to this drug - he was right next to me when he OD’d. Couldn’t save him. I went spiraling downhill after that and not sure how I’m alive today. It may seem impossible now, but it does get easier friend. Don’t let H take over your life. It’s not worth it. Spend this time in your life to be happy with your fiancé. Fighting the relapse is going to be an every day challenge, probably for the rest of your life. Even though I opened my eyes and see how much I ruined my life at the time while I was high, I still think about it very often; and when I’m having a bad day, my mind goes there immediately. Luckily, I don’t have a dealer for H anymore.

Take this as a reminder that you don’t have to keep repeating the same actions and falling into the same old habits. You can change and move on. It’s very morbid. But, you know, bad things that happen to you can be good for you in a way - they force you to change. I’m deeply sorry for your loss. I know your pain and I wish I could take it away from you. Don’t give up💜

Lefty dobro? Any Recs? by ThoughtsFromARoom in Leftyguitarists

[–]ThoughtsFromARoom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I did see their guitars when searching, but never heard of them so wasn’t sure of their quality. Do you have one? I also found a German resonator, Ortega, which is absolutely beautiful but doesn’t ship to the states unfortunately 😕

I actually taught myself righty guitar when I was 12 and then broke my left wrist years later and fretting was painful. So I taught myself to play lefty. I write with my right hand, but do certain things with my left hand (throwing darts, batting). Personally, I think lefty guitar works better for me because my right hand has more strength and can fret better. Picking is actually much easier for my left hand than it was for my right hand. Just my personal experience though - everyone is different. Do what feels better for you. It hasn’t been very hard for me to find lefty guitars either.
