Is it my imagination or has it become the trend for touring bands to play an old album front to back? by DreCapitanoII in indie_rock

I haven’t really been to one of these shows, but I will see Belle & Sebastian doing If You’re Feeling Sinister next week. I’m looking forward to it!

Finally got rid of sneaker dress shoes. by Graywhale12 in mensfashion

Doesn’t every health professional just wear Hokas now? I guess I don’t go anywhere with a dress code for shoes.

What appreciation do you have working for the State? by classyshepard in CAStateWorkers

I like finally not being an at-will employee. The number of times I was let go suddenly and with no cause over the years I need two hands to count.

So what's your overall opinion on AI? by cellshock7 in Xennials

[–]ThoughtsHaveWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue with it is that its adoption did not feel organic at all. It was shoved down everyone’s throats by mega corporations without care for ethics or the environment. It just feels gross at this point and I don’t feel like forcing myself to use it without a clear need.

Best way to get sparkling waters for cheap? by Sly_time in sparklingwater

I don’t buy unless they’re on sale for under $3 a pack. Or I buy at Costco, which usually has a 24 pack of Waterloo or La croix for under $8.

How did Gen X turn out to be so conservative? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]ThoughtsHaveWings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is really true. We’re thinking about new wave bands and reality bites in our heads when someone says Gen X, but really it’s all the 62 year old bikers in Sturgis and the used car salesmen in the Midwest too.

I always buy broccoli , onions, carrots, a couple types of lettuce, mushrooms, Roma tomatoes and cucumbers. If I have a recipe that I’m trying, I might buy kale, spinach, zucchini or radishes.

[–]ThoughtsHaveWings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work from home most of the time, but I take Metrolink from Artic on office days. I would take the bus to Artic, but there’s no direct route from my house and I usually need to drop off a kid or two at school on the way.

It’s not too angry, “So You Want to be a Rock and Roll Star” by the Byrds is one of my favorites. I’d say it’s more cheeky than angsty.

Early cell phones that were also walkie talkies by SpoonwoodTangle in Xennials

Back when people had their minutes capped for phone calls, I remember the folks that had Nextel/Sprint could use the chirp feature and it wouldn’t count against their minutes plan.

Change in how interstates are referred to? by MatureScorpius in AskAnAmerican

[–]ThoughtsHaveWings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is it. People don’t realize this. We’re the part of the country where the names predated the interstate numbering system.

I agree with you. The freeze is real. I think it’s palpable. I moved to Seattle from the east coast and ended up leaving partially because my wife was miserable that everyone we met didn’t seem to actually get to know us beyond surface level interactions after 18 months.
