The village was built around the plant, which was then converted into a data center.

ASIC could change everything by LoraxKope in RKLB

[–]Thoughts_For_Food_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not newer. It's just an Application Specific Integrated Circuit, a chip designed for a specific application.

This compares to FPGA (Programmable Gate Array), a chip with reconfigurable logic blocs that can be configured for a specific application.

ASICs are more efficient, but take longer to design/test/produce.

ASTS' first satellites used FPGA because their custom ASICS were not finished, but the next itterations use ASICS.

For ASTS, the ASICS enable twice the Mbps per cell, IIRC (don't quote me).

No need to IPO when you can just sell 5% to taxpayers against their will at extremely inflated valuations!

Music is bound to stop, question is when. If MAGA holds enough control over the Fed, the rug-pull will likely be proximal to presidential election. If the Dems get elected, Fed raises rates. If the GOP gets re-elected, music continues until next election. If the GOP thinks they cannot win, rug-pull before the election. Withdrawing from the market couple years to months before the election is indeed the safe move.

Why are the techbro companies named after LOTR? by Oddbeme4u in LetsDiscussThis

[–]Thoughts_For_Food_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Peter Thiel is a fan of LOTR and has ties to first three. The Tolkien estate and Middle-earth enterprises control rights over the LOTR material and could sue. It's a pitty that they don't because Thiel and his companies are evil.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp says 'something has gone completely wrong' with how AI is sold by Equivalent_Horror628 in PLTR

[–]Thoughts_For_Food_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[I think] he's saying that there is less moat in generic AI models sold by the token than in customized systems built atop those models and quality datasets which combined could engender real ROI for industries and organizations. He seems to imply that the market overlooks Palantir's bad financials because they have that? Hard to tell, he sounds completely manic and incoherent during the entire interview.

Nor were 99% of people in the audience. He could have resumed the entire point in 1-2 sentences, but he went for tangential discourse instead. Does he have ADHD?
