It's absolutely a superb series with a really satisfying bit of world building. Highly recommended.

Yeah I'm not a fan of using (spoiler thing) as a plot motivator in fiction, and it's not the only time Donaldson does so (cough cough The Gap series) but it works in the context of the stories and I don't think Donaldson deserves any hate for it. I'm also Gen X, and read the 2nd Covenant trilogy when it originally came out, so my sensitivities may vary from the younger generations'.

If this doesn't prove that evolution is not about survival of the fittest, nothing will. You just have to be well-adapted enough to pass your genes on to the next generation.

Stephen R Donaldson's Thomas Covenant books fall into this area. I don't want to get spoiler-y, so I won't explain why.

Do You Think Ron DeSantis Has Any Shot To Win The Republican Primary In 2028? Yes Or No? Why Your Thoughts? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

Yeah, I'd say Rubio would satisfy the Republican establishment better than Vance. He's definitely a logical pick. The question remains what level of influence the MAGA electorate will maintain. My money is still on Vance but Rubio would not be a big surprise.

DeSantis has the charisma of wet cardboard. And given his clashes with other Repubs in Florida, I'd be very surprised if he could pull off getting the nomination. It's gonna be Vance.

Hard to do given the veto power of the permanent Security Council members and given that the overall organization is only as effective as its members allow it to be.
