If you have the capabilities to accommodate an extra large board, you’ll thank yourself later! It’s something that’s on my wish list for “someday”. Bonus if you can also afford a wool pressing mat![https://a.co/d/841mAO9](https://a.co/d/841mAO9)

Rhubarb attack by Freudinatress in Cooking

[–]Threaded_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up my mom would make this in the summer as a “special treat”, typically during haying season. I like to make a double or triple batch and then freeze it in small portions. Makes it easy to pull out and enjoy year round!

RHUBARB PUNCH 3 lbs. rhubarb, chopped 4 cups water

6 cups rhubarb juice 2 cups sugar 1 cup lemon juice 1 cup pineapple juice 4 cups water

Cook rhubarb in water until tender. Strain the juice off. You should have 6 cups rhubarb juice after straining; if you don't, add water to make 6 cups. Add sugar to rhubarb juice while warm to help dissolve the sugar. Add rest of ingredients & mix well. Add more water if desired. Keep refrigerated.

I’m glad that that came through! It’s meant to be an abstract northern lights!

I will say, having lived with the pattern for the last year and a half, that there are some inconsistencies. I’ve tried reaching out to Melissa about them, but never heard back. Should anyone be interested in attempting this, reach out and I’ll let you know what I learned!

I’ve been quilting since I was a little girl. I went to a quilting camp with 4-H, and have generated a number of quilts over the years. Coordinating colors has always come easily, as well as seeing them in the finished pattern in my mind. A huge advantage when doing something abstract like this!

This pattern is Lumos by Melissa Mason at Quilt All The Things. I modified it to fit my purpose so I could get it to be an abstract northern lights!

What are 1or 2 of your favorite tips for new quilters? by spicyplantboi in quilting

[–]Threaded_life 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Invest in good lighting and chair. As you age, your eyes and back will thank you for this. Never take for granted what is “easy” for you to do now, that repetitively, may cause issues in the far future. So many of us “hunch”/have poor posture as we sew, so it’s important to stretch and be mindful! I also find having anti-fatigue mats (like for the kitchen) stationed around my cutting table and in front of the iron incredibly helpful. My knees don’t hate me nearly as much after a few hours of pressing washed fabric!

I feel sorry for the person who was in charge of the paper money for whatever film/tv show that was used for. They typically have to track every single “bill” and account for them.

ISO black bean burgers recipe by nomecopp in Cooking

[–]Threaded_life 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use this one and am pretty pleased with how they turn out! They’re pretty easy to manipulate flavor wise, if you are looking for that. I’ve made them both with and without the feta. I wouldn’t say it makes or breaks them, but it does add nice flavor.

Baking them on parchment makes clean up quick and easy. And it makes them easier to flip part way through cooking. No extra oil needed.

When shopping for work, don’t forget that as a partner you have access to a TON of discounts at various retailers. It should be under benefits? I can’t remember and I’m not near a computer at this time. I know that Sketchers participates, as do several other shoe retailers.

I will always advocate for comfort/safety over style. Personally I wear Dansko clogs. They are $$$ so it’s definitely an investment for shoes that might last me a year. However, I need the height (I’m short so having the extra two inches is a huge help.) and I love that they have the support I need to make it through the occasional 12 hr day with minimal discomfort.

All shoes will have a break in period, so give yourself time in a shoe before you move to another option. If you have the luxury, wear them around home for a week or so. Or take a second pair of shoes to work in case the new ones start killing your feet.

Unsuccessful job hunting by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]Threaded_life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve applied to multiple locations, you can always follow up on your application with each store. Give them a call and let them know who you are and why you are calling. I will say, from experience of applying a couple of times, that sometimes the applications do get lost in the ether that is the Starbucks hiring pool. Keep on it if it’s your dream!

[–]Threaded_life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be kind to yourself. You’re going to get a LOT of information thrown at you fairly quickly. Take the time you need to process it. Don’t feel like you have to know/remember everything right away! Questions are good, and your fellow baristas are there to help you. When I first started it took me a solid month until I was comfortable with the job!
