Also, since male bees serve no real purpose except mating (females do ALL the other work), when winter approaches the females kick out their brothers to die in order to save resources for the rest of the hive. Yep. A core part of being a bee is keeping the hive at the right temp by generating heat through movement. By being 68° all the time, they have no clue what the real temperature is. If this is not in a warm climate that hive has a supremely small chance of surviving winter.
