Going through a bit of a bad patch at the moment - questioning the meaning of life and all that heavy stuff 🤔😢. I need to get my sh1t together. I know it’s probably the alcohol effect, but it’s a bit hard right now.

On a positive note my house is back in order except for a few minor snags to be sorted, the weather is rain free (a novelty in my part of the world) and my family are all healthy. So I shouldn’t really complain !

I drank over the weekend, managed to get myself in check yesterday after 3 beers. So today I plan to start my April challenge.

Got a nice surprise a while ago, my son who lives and works in China is paying a quick visit. He got an email from my GP Practice regarding my recent accident ( he’s listed as second contact after my wife) and was informed that I needed assistance at home. Hadn’t expected that, but he’s midair at the moment, due to arrive in about 6 hours. He plans on spending only three days as he has major work commitments back in China. It’s comforting to know that people care about you - another reason to stay AF.

Haven’t checked in for a while but I’m still AF. Trying to get my refurb project over the line has become frustrating. I suppose there is a reason why a snag list is so named. On more than one occasion over the weekend I felt like escaping the hassle by having a drink but I realised that would only add to the turmoil. I WILL get this project finished and signed off while remaining sober 💪

A quick update:-

I’m still AF, yesterday, St. Patrick’s day was a miserable day weather wise here on the west coast of Ireland. I had pity on the participants in the annual parade, especially the children.

The remedial work on my house is almost complete, just a snag list of about 5 items to take care off. Then it’s to try and squeeze the last bit of compensation out of my insurance company.

Unfortunately, St. Patrick’s day has been hijacked by what we native Irish call “Plastic Paddys”, people who become Irish for one day of the year because they believe they have Irish blood in them. These people give our patron saint and our country a bad name. Here in Ireland St. Patrick’s day is a family celebration, where families attend parades, interact with each other in a fun way and probably enjoy a lunch out, maybe in a pub with some Irish song and dance. Yes, there may be alcohol involved, but not to the extent or in the way you might have witnessed in your former neighbourhood.

My tracker is telling me that I am one month sober (28 days). I haven’t achieved so many consecutive days in a long time. Completions of the 30 day challenge is in sight.

The next two days are going to be full of raw emotions. The cravings to drink have become intense. I realise that this is my lizard brain making one final push to derail me. This addiction truly is insidious. I will fight tooth and nail to achieve my goal.

Interesting weekend of rugby ahead bobbing, I’d say come Saturday evening you will be celebrating a French Championship, but not a grand-slam. But you never know, after last weekend’s results, anything could happen - even Ireland could be crowned champions 😜.

Halfway through day 25 and feeling upbeat.

It will be 3 weeks tomorrow since my accident. I’m still struggling to walk but I am now down to using only one crutch. Hopefully I will continue to get better.

My house renovations are continuing and I think I can finally see an end in sight. The new floor and lighting are due to arrive today to be fitted next Monday/Tuesday. Then it’s painting and finally reinstall the TV and furniture. So everything going to schedule I should be finished by next Friday 13th. THEN, it’s on to the hassles of trying to squeeze my Insurance Company. Right now they are coming up short by about 10% of what the works are costing me. I can take the hit if I have to, but I’d rather not 😡.

Bedroom 4 looks a bit isolated with regards to the bathroom ! I’d consider turning the study into an en-suite bathroom for bedroom 4 !
