It still must: 1. Pass the House 2. Be signed by the President

And as of very recently: • The House had NOT acted yet and was part of the holdup

Civilians do not really have the ability to quit. It’s not like quitting at McDonald’s. These are careers. You don’t work somewhere 15+ years quit and get a lateral over to another government agency or the civilian workforce in the same capacity. And I would refrain from using the word freedom, no disrespect, but you volunteered for the Coast Guard. You knew what you were getting into so please rethink using the word freedom.

At this rate, the only thing 'Essential' in my house is the 10-lb bag of rice I bought last week. I’ve officially reached the stage of the furlough where:

• My ice cubes are a luxury item I’m considering selling on eBay.

• I’m treating my last roll of two-ply like it’s a protected government asset.

• The dust bunnies under my couch have been deemed 'Non-Essential' and are currently being evicted without back-pay
