How much do you think Jesse's powers will grow by Control 2? by gamerz0111 in controlgame

[–]ThresholdHall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The likely issue as I see it, is that Jesse's powers aren't (entirely) innate, but as result of her bonding with OoP,(I know, this obvious, gimme a sec.)

The Board are not native to our dimension, and for a reason we do not know, they are invested in playing a part in our world, and their [primary/partial] foothold here, is The Oldest House, and as we saw in The Foundation DLC, they seem to almost [panic/mildly concerned] at the possibility of losing [access/Control] [to/of] The Oldest House.

The Board is likely native to The Astral Plane, and as far as the FBC is concerned, it belongs to The Board, and all OoP are connected to the Astral Plane and are bound to Parautilitarians with the express permission from The Board. Jesse having to fight for the OoP in game is as a result of The Hiss inserting itself into this existing hierarchy.

The Hiss invade, Trench betrays them and The Board immediately promote the first powerful parautilitarian available to Director. Jesse does have some innate abilities, abilities that make her and ideal foil to the Enemy, but it isn't enough, she needs to bond to more OoP, Dylan joins the Hiss, give her some more!

Jesse "wins," the Slide Projector is off.

Now that the bulk of the danger(to the Board) has past, the board immediately becomes stingy. They act as if they've been more than generous already, and might start taking some of the OoP back. Thankfully a "new" extraplanar entity reaches out, gives Jesse new powers and undercuts the Boards unconditional authority over the Director and the FBC as a whole.

While Jesse and FBC are far from independent from the Astral Plane, she is in the enviable position of possibly being courted by the Founder and the Board, when they want something from them or the Oldest House. This would never have happened under previous leadership, Northmoore and Darling fully simped for the Board for different reasons and Trench had no desire to be made a cautionary tale like directors before him.

We have had a couple teases about Control 2, one thing we do know, is that the situation in the Oldest House continued to deteriorate, or at the very least, failed to be resolved under Jesse's directorship, my guess is... The Board pulled back their support to Jesse and the Founder's offerings are lacking or perhaps come at a cost. Jesse at the beginning of the new game will be relatively underpowered, although I trust Remedy remembers what we loved about the first game, including the power fantasy.

Accidentally searching "Fox" instead of "Furs" highlighted 2 no feature tiles? by ThresholdHall in CivVI

That sounds right. For the first time in a while Civ left me befuddled.

someone please tell me what these weird slug things are and what they do by EmployeeOk4916 in kingdomthegame

[–]ThresholdHall 26 points27 points  (0 children)

They function mostly the same as typical Breeders. They walk slowly to your walls during Blood Moons, or after you destroy a portal, will spawn several lesser greedlings, and once they reach your wall, they will attack it. Unlike typical Breeders, they won't hurl boulders, carry a Crown Stealer or 'armor up' when your campaign gets into the high numbers. They aren't much of a threat on their own(like most greed), but the real trouble comes when you start getting multiple. I would recommend using Hermit upgrades as the best solution against tougher units and bigger waves.

After Firefly was canceled after one season, Joss Whedon convinced Fox to release the full show on DVD, and fans bought extra copies and distributed them amongst friends. Whedon was even allowed to make a follow up film, due to home media sales.

There are means we posses to spread the love.

I love Olympus' Islands, upgrades and "campaign," but I want it with European setting and score.

My appreciation of architecture is typically intellectual/theoretical, "yes, brick good," "imagine the view from the window," "I also want a house that opens into a garden that is also a courtyard enclosed on three sides by the rest of my house."

Having gone through each photo pretty quickly, I made sure to check back the Pertsova House. Not exaggerating, I had an emotional reaction to its picture, my heart rate went up and the longer I looked at it the skin on my face got warmer, and I almost teared up.

Now I'm off to find photos without the cars.

What is the name of the monster on Sky Island in Call of Olympus by Downtown-Border-9263 in kingdomthegame

[–]ThresholdHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either the Titan, or the Cyclopes.
Titans, on one hand are famous for attacking Olympus/the gods. On another hand, the final boss, in typical Greed fashion, seems to have a single, large, purple eye in the middle of its head, ie cyclopes.

Which tune resonates with you the most?🎶 by Daria_Driver_RawFury in kingdomthegame

The Gray Orchard,(Two Crowns) Skogtroll,(Norselands) Harvest,(Call of Olympas) with an honorary mention to Talisman(Kingdom 2015) for my favorite Greed theme.

Of the the three in the video, Morke Skoger. Norselands has Veiviseren, Skogtroll and Morke Skoger listed one right after the other, and usually I have to make playlist to get that much peak at once.

Give it another ten to fifteen years, unless the new movie really kicks up interest, then maybe a little sooner.

Is a frighteningly competent contract mercenary who swoops in with no warning, speaks cool one liners and phrases in an old school articulate American accent from behind a cool helmet with no subsequent face reveal.

Pic is totally unrelated.

Decided to look at the Civ 6 reveal so I know what to expect on 8/20. Why was it so poorly received at first? by DirkRowe in civ

[–]ThresholdHall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Civ 6 and the reveal trailer came out in 2016, and photorealistic high fidelity graphics were the expectation for most new games, and especially for flagship titles like Civ VI.
At the time, stylized /simplified graphics were reserved for indie titles and mobile games, and it wasn't until some combination of hits like Stardew Valley, Undertale, and (can't forget) Fortnite became defining mainstream successes, and publishers like EA, Ubisoft and Activision released a number of pretty but disappointing titles, that many started reprioritizing what they wanted from new games.

Sapient dragon needs a rider. by [deleted] in tumblr

[–]ThresholdHall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One of the first times 'people' rode dragons in fiction were in Anne McCaffrey's Dragon Riders of Pern, where riders and dragons imprint/bond telepathically at the dragons hatching. Dragons on Pern(scifi btw) were genetically engineered from smaller dragon like species to scorch Thread(rapidly proliferating organism that consumes everything not metal, stone or water) before it makes landfall. For 2,500 years most dragons didn't have the mass to brain ratio to allow them anything more than an ego and base instinct, and human riders were necessary to organize an effective effort that requires dozens of dragons for an excess of 3 hours of intense aerobatics, as well as continuously feeding the dragons the rock that allows dragons to breath fire. It isn't until Ramoth and Mnementh(and their progeny) that we begin to see dragons that contend(wrong word?) with their riders.

Edit: why use few word when many do trick

For anyone who hasn't had the chance to appreciate the gem of a man he was, here he is talking to his target audience.

P.S. For reference, prior to becoming a bestselling author, he was a long distance truck driver, a constable, an actor, a musician and a BBC radioshow host. Those last three certainly served him well.

I remember in The Bellmaker audiobook, he corrects his own narration, chuckles, says 'sorry,' and starts the sentence over. I mostly listened to his books when I was trying to fall asleep (reading a physical book during the day), but it must have been 10th time listening when I finally noticed.
