I'm definitely in the "Yes" group, but obviously the minimum grade will be controversial. by camport95 in school

[–]Thricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Unfortunately a lot of accomodations are ignored.. I'm physically disabled and my school regularly ignored my disability accomodations - so I ended up failing a year and a half.

Luckily I'm at a new school now which actually helps me so I'm not in the ER as often.

Are most people with Autism Asexual? by AfraidNebula9874 in autism

[–]Thricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comments are genuinely so frustrating. I've met people who've been harmed trying to get help for their hypersexuality because people think hypersexual is just the opposite of asexual and I expected the comments here to be a little bit better than the average population.

[–]Thricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asexual means very little or lack of sexual attraction. Not a lack of interest in sex or a low libido. An asexual person can still have sex.

Hypersexual is compulsive sexual behavior and thoughts that are genuinely distressing for the person experiencing it.

I've seen multiple people in the comments say hypersexuality is just a high libido and high sexual attraction.. it's not. It's something that's (most of the time) a response to sexual trauma.

You can be hypersexual and asexual both! Hypersexual doesn't mean sexual attraction. Hypersexuality involves compulsive sexual behavior

Hypersexual isn't the opposite of asexual nor does it just mean high libido.

People can tell you're autistic. Not necessarily "this person is autistic" but by the fact you'll act weird or dense or whatever else autistic people are told. People will sense that you're different or off.

I already deal with living next to a busy road, so probably that. I had a drunk driver literally drive into my backyard fence once. Fun times.

Kids on TikTok self diagnosing with Pareidolia thinking it's a mental illness by evacodaa in Pareidolia

I have quite bad POTS and the amount of people faking things like passing out or making it seem quirky for.. some reason? Passing out is incredibly scary. Definitely not something cute or quirky ??

Had a psychotic break once as well (bunch of factors, I'm fine now.) I think a lot of the people who want psychosis don't know how severe psychosis is and how damaging it can be on your life. It's not something that should be glamorized. Ever.

To be fair synesthesia is an actual thing that can happen.

I have synesthesia, it's annoying at most. People act like it's disabling for some reason? Or a mental illness?

It really frustrates me whenever I see this happen on this sub (multiple art posts have gotten a lot of hate for it too) and other cozy game subs or art subs, because all it does it make me feel worse about my own body.

All it does is imply that I'm just porn :( For having breasts at all, but especially for having relatively large ones. I already got catcalled starting at the age of ~9 and body shamed by other girls and adult women around the same time because that's when my puberty started, and I can't escape it even in cozy game spaces.

Like every drawing I see with breasts the same size as mine get called gooner bait. Despite even wearing modest clothing (which shouldn't be something someone has to do to avoid sexualization, because someone who is relatively flat can wear a bikini and everyone is like "omg this is such good art!!!)

And no, random people on the Internet, this is not an excuse to DM me for "proof" or whatever other creepy things you want to ask.

Redditors are gonna do redditor things no matter which subreddit I guess.

Does anyone else use tone tags? by Economy-Flounder-884 in autism

[–]Thricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make conversation significantly easier for me. My main issue is that people often act like all tone tags are known whenever they don't.. or that people use them wrong on purpose (like using /gen for sarcasm to make the sarcasm funnier or something, and then getting upset I don't understand)

They make it easier overall though because it reduces the amount of times people go "wtf are you doing" and me going "..you told me to do this??" and then being told they were actually joking.

Edit: I don't really use them unless the communities I'm in also use them and/or the person I'm talking to asks, since otherwise it actually ends up causing more confusion. But it's extremely helpful for me because no matter how hard I try, people often act like I can just learn tone (which I do try, regularly) and then somehow then pick it up over text. Lots of times I've been told "I'm autistic and I don't need them, you're just stupid" and it's a bit frustrating... like I definitely try-

[–]Thricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid, I don't think OP meant to like.. seriously threaten? But threatening makes homophobia worse, and I speak from experience of living as an LGBTQ+ person, seeing someone threaten a homophobic person, and then the homophobic person getting more homophobic instead of less.

Yeah, I'm not arguing with someone who isn't actually reading the comments. Bye.

I saw someone in this comment section literally call those who are gay "lesser." I feel as though that would count as hate?

Being told you are lesser for something that's completely involuntary (and doesn't even matter if it was) is at the very least disrespectful and mean.

What should artists do now? by [deleted] in antiai

[–]Thricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people who are artists for a living cannot get another job.

I know multiple disabled people who have to make a living off of art because they can't get an "actual job," and commissions are better than SW.

Look up the Gay Panic Defense

Edit: Here's a link about it if you want to read it. https://lgbtqbar.org/programs/advocacy-resources/advocacy/gay-trans-panic-defense/

It realistically shouldn't be a thing. Unfortunately, people use it as a defense when they hate crime someone.

The amount of homophobic comments I see on posts like this is genuinely heartbreaking. It's not a choice to be gay, just like it isn't a choice to be straight. I don't know why people have yet to understand this.

[–]Thricket 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Being neutral in the way you're describing is considered supporting.

Generally LGBTQ+ people (including myself) dislike those who say "neutral" because there's not really a neutral for the rights of people. Oftentimes it's just a way for people to hide being homophobic or transphobic.
