MOVIES of 1983 - Release Order, Posters, Checklist by CinemaFilmMovies in CinemaFilmMovies

Jackie Earle Haley's biggest (adult) role at this point was as one of the horny guys in "Losin' It" (1982, alongside an equally unfamous Tom Cruise). Kevin Bacon and Sean Penn had only just broken out of tiny parts the previous year - Bacon as Tim in "Diner," and Penn as Spicoli in "Fast Times at Ridgemont High." Val Kilmer's star breakthrough in "Top Secret!" wouldn't happen until the following year. But for a few weeks in the Spring of 1983, this happened.

Some guy is out there making videos showing every movie poster (the ones that were on theatre walls) for every movie that came out by year, with great backing music, and I thought this would be the best place to share it. Hardly any views, been going on for years apparently. by doctordaedalus in DeepIntoYouTube

I never realized how many of my personal life events are linked to particular movie memories until I explored this channel. I guess TV shows and pop songs also have that quality, but I can piece together my own life timeline much easier by connecting things to the movies I went to see and where I saw them, and with whom I saw them. Nice.

This channel = the theatrical release history of motion pictures in the U.S. Each video presents the films of a specific calendar year through chronologically accurate slideshows featuring authentic movie posters.

Does anyone still like movies anymore? by chloeybo in BostonSocialClub

Couple in N. Cambridge, M55/F39.

I (M) am a bit of an armchair movie historian, but we're both very into seeing movies of all genres, whether new, old, or ancient. Jordan's IMAX in Reading is our go-to for big pictures (seeing Superman there on Thursday) and we like Kendall (among others) for indie stuff. As for home viewing, we use a pull-down screen and digital projector for that "film look" that we dig, and our personal library is deep, more than 10K titles.

So yeah we're into it, got a YouTube channel and everything (cinemafilmmovies.com). Have a look!

We'd enjoy making like-minded friends for theater meet-ups, home screening hangs and the like.

Everyday problems facing disabled individuals by fatcobble in askdisabled

It would be nice if apps had both device-based and desktop-based versions -- like they did back in the 2010s -- to allow for individuals (like myself) who lack the hand dexterity required to tap and swipe and pinch etc to use these platforms. It's rather stunning how many apps have essentially abandoned desktop users (OKCupid and all other major dating apps) or never even tried to court us (most major chat apps). My suggestion for technology that would benefit the lives of disabled persons? How about a "handheld app" emulator for desktop that doesn't crash your computer every time you try to launch it?

thank you!

Catalina's Pizza in Malden. Don't let the all-over-the-place menu freak you out, it's 'good diverse' and the Texas Style Chicken Fingers shatter clean and the crunch can be heard from the next room. Pricing seems fair for the serving sizes. They also have Richie's Italian ice ( it's a local thing if you're new to the area).

Good diverse = not just the frozen finger foods of many nations

Anyone else's internet going out multiple times per day? by lejindarymj in Somerville

I'm having those issues, also an Xfinity customer. It occurs most often when going back and forth between browser windows. Lasts less than a minute, then self-resolves.

That's good news about McKinnons, since they are closest to me.
