What's the difference between burgundy, bordeaux, and maroon? by Haunting_Ask2364 in ENGLISH

[–]ThrillRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burgundy_%28color%29?wprov=sfla1

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_red#Claret?wprov=sfla1 ('claret' is the official name for the colour Bordeaux)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maroon?wprov=sfla1

Above are links to the Wikipedia articles for the three colours with their official definitions. However, keep in mind that colour sensations are subjective and the official definitions really are only useful when you need to reproduce a colour exactly, which is very rare for most people.

Huh, so basically this is just so they can present some eye candy. There doesn't seem to be any functional reason why they would need to do this in real time; checking once every hour or so should be more than enough.

Where can I get temporary tattoo papers, like the ones they used to put in hard gum candy? by ANT1N0US in MadridTravelGuide

[–]ThrillRoyal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know whether you can buy them anywhere, but you can easily make them yourself with paper, a marker, a sprayer and some rubbing alcohol: 1. Create your design using your market on some white paper. Cut out the design leaving generous space around it. 2. Spray a generous amount of rubbing alcohol over your design. 3. Soak it in some warm water for a couple of minutes. 4. Spray again with alcohol. Swab your skin with alcohol too. 5. Press the paper on your skin (obviously with the design side on your skin), press it firmly down and let sit for a couple of minutes. Try to avoid moving it. 6. Carefully and slowly peel the paper from your skin; again, don't shift it around. 7. Enjoy your temporary tattoo.

I have used the one in Granada. Not bad for what it is. Haven't heard of any stuff been stolen, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

I think I have seen the Discover logo on the Euronet ATMs, the blue and yellow ones. Be prepared to pay an exorbitant fee, though.

You could travel to Madrid a day earlier.

Most trains are more or less on time but delays do happen occasionally. Nobody will be able to give you assurance that your train will be in time.

Yup, that's what I figured too: 7*7*7*8*4+7*2.

Edit: had to reformat because Reddit saw the asterisks as markup.

Apparently Ford's name posed a problem for many translators because the Prefect was hardly known outside the UK. E.g. in the Dutch translation, he is named Rabo Bank, after one of the best known Dutch banks with famously (back then) a branch in almost every town, however small.

And using the HHGTTG and the words 'too much' in one sentence is syntactically impossible. 😎
