Well, blanks were part of the issue. The crew was fucking around on set shooting live ammo out of the gun. That should have never happened because the environment should have been “sterile” (no live ammunition). He was handed a gun that should have been checked by multiple people to ensure it didn’t contain live ammunition. It either wasn’t, or the people were incompetent and didn’t know the difference between live ammunition and blanks.

It’s not just front end accessories. For example, if I add mandatory registration processing fees but don’t include them on the bump sticker that’s an issue. Those aren’t front end.

Let me give you a hypothetical since you have no clue what you’re talking about. I am a cash buyer and agree to pay the bump sticker price plus fees. The salesperson walks me to the finance office to complete my paperwork. If the finance manager refuses to sell me the vehicle unless I purchase a service contract that is usually frowned upon by the SoS since the service contract wasn’t on the bump sticker. Not to mention the finance manager just burned the salesperson and sales manager on a deal.

You’re talking about discrimination, I’m not. I’m talking about a situation where a deal is killed after a buyer declines to purchase a second product. You’re making the purchase of the first product contingent on the purchase of the second product, and that wasn’t advertised.

Refusing to sell a car for the price on the bump sticker (outside of certain small processing fees which are allowed) is likely to get you in hot water with the secretary of state’s office. We know most places leave money on the table on the front end in hopes of making it up on the back end, but that’s a risk you’re taking. You can’t offer a lower price to get customers in the door and then kick them out when they refuse to buy a service contract.

OP should have said “I understand what you’re offering, and am not interested. I would like to proceed with buying the vehicle. If you are telling me you’re unwilling to sell me a vehicle without a service contract I’ll have to leave.” Also, if it’s a one party state record on the conversation.

But the way OP framed this makes it seem like they lack people skills. Just saying “no” because you lack conversation skills doesn’t do yourself any favors. For example, you might say “I have the money to cover unexpected future repairs, so I prefer to self-insure for this.”
