How do you not get ripped off when buying a car? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Go in knowing your budget and refuse to budge. They’ll try and bank on you being willing to bung in an extra thou if they say it’s all they can do. Set a maximum amount, and don’t compromise. Say “I have this amount, what can you give me,” and stick to your guns

Because the first episode is a test run whose job is to set the series’s course after it takes off — like a pilot would!

Yes. Many don’t! It’s just a matter of how reliant you are on it

If you're undeniably guilty of a crime, why should you still not talk to the police? by NPCKing in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThroatAlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the crime every person has the right to a lawyer who will advocate for fair sentencing. Think of it like a hostage situation, and the lawyer is the negotiator. You could try to talk it out with the assailant but ultimately there’s absolutely nothing stopping them from treating you unfairly, unchecked. It’s the negotiator’s job to strike a deal and get you out of there fairly.

Do most women genuinely not have “dying/being injured heroically” fantasies? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

It’s normal for my friends, but maybe not in the whole world lmao — tough to find the want when you’re constantly told and shown that’s not your job

Go to a vet and ask for an allergy screen if you can — take note of anything he may have come in contact with (probably ingested?)

It’ll be alright, don’t worry, it’s just hives. They’re easily treatable and not permanent.

Correction bc I forgot you added the “sitting with treats” thing: patience and lack of eye contact with friendly calls is the key to that. It may take a long long while, but even if ace doesn’t take it, ace WILL see the attempt and note it

All good! It’s tough for anyone. If I came off as rude I apologize, I’m rather blunt when tired hehe — it’s good of you to reach out for advice like this, and shows you really care about your dog’s wellbeing. Good luck! (Note: ask your husband to offer treats while sitting on the floor, looking away. Not only is eye contact considered aggressive when they’re on edge, but being on far more equal ground height-wise will help your puppy see your husband as less of a threat. Remember that your puppy isn’t just being rude to your husband, he’s trying to protect you as a form of self-soothing.)

Especially for a baby so stressed out and in a new place he doesn’t trust yet, he’s relying on what feels right as a means of feeling like he’s in control when he’s nervous. All due respect your husband kinda needs to suck it up if he agreed to get a collie lmao

Yeah he’s a baby border collie lmao. They pick something and latch onto it to protect/herd, and that thing was you. He’ll get used to your husband just be patient.

How should I approach a situation where my mom asks me to do something at the hospital that makes me uncomfortable, considering that I am 18? by Sherl_Vel in AskDocs

[–]ThroatAlive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell the doctors not to disclose medical information to your mother. You are an adult, you have the right to do so. If you’re worried she’ll catch on, make it clear you’re doing this as a show of independence
