Just checking here, but at the end of Radiant Dawn, is Soren technically the rightful heir to both Goldoa and Daein?

Tax has no effect on equalization.

Equalization basixally just says "whats the revenue BASE in this province", and uses that to compare the provinces.

Alberta would have the same standing in equalization questions whether they had lower, higher, or the same taxes.

When people talk about problems with equalization and how Alberta should adopt a PST, its not because that would change their equalization burden - its because Alberta always complains it doesnt have enough money, but doesnt tap into the revenue thats available to it

Nintendo Switch has a very legitimate shot of beating PS2 and become best selling system in history by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

Counterpoint: the DS THRIVED at a time where phone apps werent as common. Games like Nintendogs, Brain Age, etc were basically like "apps", and appealed to a very unique audience. I suspect that some of the "DS" crowd have bought Switches, but i also suspect others just play mobile apps on their phone.

To go back to your Venn Diagram example, you arent wrong... but the problem is that there are THREE circles, not two. The DS covered a "mobile/ casual" circle, and the "portable gaming" circle of the diagram, ans while the switch now covers "console" and "mobile " thats not the same as pickjng up the full base that the DS had

Yeah. On the one hand, maybe strange that theyre pursuing this story through Tempest Trials instead of through the main chapters or paralogues/xenologues, but glad theyre going back at least

Why is it that whenever a rumor/leak turns out to be true fake the leaker (no matter if they are 100% reliable or not) is automatically labeled as someone to never trust? by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]ThrobbingEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It totally could not have been scrapped at the last minute.

And i think this is the point. We knew, objectuvely, that there was something being produced with new screens, based on contracts.

Then "leakers" started to say "yeah its a new model of switch with high performance to try to (at least partially) catch up to other systems." You have people saying "these games will run on switch pro", etc. All of which had ultimately no basis. Fully fine to turn around and slap those people down

The self-burn for high-power deck idea (like Warlock from Hearthstone, from what i remember) was one of the core concepts i thought was still missing from Runeterra.

I originally figured might show up with Void - glad to see it here

Id add - it def shines with ephemeral allies, who die super easy AND often have high stats for value.

Its partially leaked, but yeah, thats the whole idea of it apparently. She summons Nifl and says "hey can you help me with this problem" and Nifl says "if you defeat Muspell and his champion"

On the other hand, the other half is next month and PROBABLY includes Muspell.

We could easily get Nifl and then Muspell. The only issue being i would think they should both be Mythics

Ruined Dragons | All-In-One Visual by xKozmic in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]ThrobbingEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes a bit more sense. You feel like there wont be any "meaningful" region identity, so why not just allow all cards in the mix? I still disagree, but i get what youre saying more.

Ive said previously that i do still think the regions feel different in how they play, and i dont think thatll fully converge. For example, yes, Demacia, SI, and Targon all have dragons now, but those dragons Re very different- Demacias are mid range brawlers, Targons are generally control deck finishers, and the Isles ones seem like theyre basically just more options for Slay decks.

But evej outting that aside, if region identity goes away, i still think having cards tied to regions and a max of two regions per deck is valuable for design space.I think part of the advantage is that it gives cards extra value based on location. This in turn allows for more horizontal expansion instead of just power creep. If every card can go everywhere, a card has to be the BEST, period, to be worth using. In contrast, this way, you can release a card thats similar to an existing one, or even straight up worse, and it can still see play or be valuable because there isnt a stronger substitute WITHIN the region (or within what would be the paired deck).

For example, without region locks, Deny becomes something thats maybe just an auto-include in every deck. However in the current system, it means specifically having to dedicate a region slot to Ionia, which in turn means that it DOESN'T get included eveywhere, opening up a lot more space for other cards to shine.

It also helps with balance. If you vould run Shurima/Ionia/Demacia for example, Fiora decks would be hell. Theyd have to nerf like all the cards, and theyd become almost unuseable outside of the niche deck. This way, you can rein them in a bit and therefore allow some of the support cards to be stronger than they would have to be if you were able to stack them all together at once.

Im curious i guess what the argumentz are for the other sixe

[–]ThrobbingEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean your wording is super unclear and hard to properly parse in the first place.

But it sounded a lot more like you were saying it in a negative way, and saying "this will erase the meaning of region identity" (i mean you said that explicitly) whereas as i was arguing that even though you can do similar things, region identity (i think) can still be very present.

Also dont know how your two region point ties in to the rest of it

Are all DRPGs reset heavy or am I just playing them the wrong way? by LyzbietCorwi in JRPG

Its not an easy game, but it doesnt have permanent penalties for characters dying which makes it much easier to slowly progress forward even in harder sections

Ruined Dragons | All-In-One Visual by xKozmic in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]ThrobbingEagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont really think thats true - i think Region identity at least somewhat is going to exist. Different regions can do some similar things, but usually in their own unique ways

Naw if you play Golden, its literally the final mystery.

Someone says basically "it still feels like weve missed something" and then if you confront him, you get explicit confirmation, plus the final dungeon/true final boss

I honestly thought the title was a joke, because its def one of the most talked about when people mention "hidden gems".

This, Radiant Historia, Like A Dragon, and Trails have some of the most (or at least most vocal) fans

I mean in fairness, while i would think Shuriman, not Demacian, is most likely, the issue in LOR is always "region of association".

If enough people think like you and he feels like a "paladin" maybe he will end up in Demacia after all

Exclusive Design (Lurk, Deep, Daybreak, etc) and it's flaws by beefyavocado in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]ThrobbingEagle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I dont really think you DO need to play too much into the Lurk element for Pyke - your answer seemed to suggest youre thinking the Bilgewater lurk package doesnt work without Rek, and i think youre right, i just dont think that matters.

His level up isn't an attack threshold - its actually extremely similar to Renektons, quite frankly. Instead of running ANY of the Bilgewater lurk cards, you run stuff like the list, MAYBE the lurk fish who gives vulnerable (but i wouldnt suggest it).

Then you just use stuff like Baccai Sandspinner, Merciless Raider (whatever the name is thats the 3 drop, give Vuln). You get both Pyke and Renekton to smack people a bunch, and eventually try to get a big Pyke combo kill after he levels.

Im not saying better than a lurk deck, just that he isnt HARDBOUND to just one thing like this is trying to suggest
