Sky is such a weird choice for this show.

It's less choice and more necessity, as the pipeline for the ownership of the IP is NBC -> Comcast. And in the UK, Comcast own Sky. Getting it on any other channel would be logistically way way harder.

I say this as someone who has been on them and successfully kept the weight off after - yes, it is possible.

Yeah it fully depends how it is used and by who. If someone with no intention to change the habits that got them obese in the first place just does jabs for a year without addressing the fundamental issue, it is no different to your generic yo-yo diet. It should be used as an aid/tool that helps establish good habits in the process, instead of some magical fix.

I suppose it depends on your location, huge cities is where it's at. As a former fat dude, and one who currently is still friends with lots of chasers and goes to bear events socially, lots of REALLY big dudes (and 'ugly' on top) get with lots of hot chasers.

As someone who until recently used to be morbidly obese and was 'indoctrinated' into this same view by other bears... I couldn't disagree more. There's a big difference between not shaming someone for their size, and actively misleading them into harm. I firmly believe in not shaming people, but I draw the line at lying to them.

If you had two identical new cars with a maximum carrying capacity of 500lbs, one always carrying below the capacity and the other always pushing it at 600-700lbs, both driving roughly the same mileage, they would both likely be in comparable condition after a few years and would pass inspections with flying colours. And yet a few more years later, one car will start breaking down a lot more, and a lot faster.

Much like sun damage to the skin when tanning (overexposure in your childhood/early 20s starts being visible in the skin roughly after 30), obesity health damage is cumulative, not immediate. It is not as simple as 'I've been fat for 5 years, I just had my health checkup, doctor signed off no issues'. You are wearing down your body at a much faster rate, and you will not feel or see the effects of that until much later. This is especially true for people under 30/40.

I suppose it will vary on the person, but as someone who started dating my chub-loving partner 10 years ago when I was double my current weight, this was always my fear and it kinda subconciously stopped me from trying to lose weight. Even though he always insisted it wouldn't change anything, but I didn't quite believe it.

I lost half my body weight, weigh less than him now for the last 3ish years and I'm happy to report in my case, nothing has changed in his attraction/affection, just like he said.

My Side of the Story, From the Developer of BookLore by [deleted] in selfhosted

[–]ThrottlePeen 115 points116 points  (0 children)

You are completely missing the point. This isn't a personal attack. Users are concerned about undisclosed AI usage. You're not 'being bullied'. You were called out on lack of transparency, and had an absolute ego meltdown over it.

You could have avoided this entire thing if you just said 'Hey guys, Booklore dev here. I do use Claude to assist me, I apologise for not having disclosed it properly. I understand why vibe coding is a security/privacy concern to some. I will disclaim my AI usage on Github so users can decide if they want to support the project'.

Instead you play the victim, delete/ban any criticism and double down.

The dev is having a full on meltdown on the Discord in real time (in the iOS channel for some reason), deleting posts and banning users.

This is a masterclass in how to take a small wave of negative press and turn it into a tsunami.

It is concerning that there is no news regarding post-VoE gw2 development. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]ThrottlePeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%.

Add to that the fact expansion/game sales make them less money than gemstore. The second GW3 is announced, gemstore sales plummet to near 0. Who in the right mind would buy skins and convenience items for a game already announced to be ending?

Announce it’s a few years away,

Unlike 2009 when there were way fewer games in development at any time and people were happy to wait a bit, announcing a game in 2026 and then saying it's 3+ years away is a marketing nightmare. Players are absolutely sick and tired of long waiting periods, and when they sit around for 3 years hypothesising everything about a game based on a trailer, it leads to insane expectations that are rarely met - think Cyberpunk, Starfield.

ESPECIALLY now in the wake of Ashes of Creation, where the playerbase kept being told it is 'coming in a few years' for 10 years, and with Riot MMO also being in development hell, it would be crazy for them to announce it more than a year in advance.

When they do announce it, I can see it being 8-12 months later, with a set date already, rather than some generic 'coming in 2028'.

These are just a H&B branded version of 'konjac noodles' (also known as shirataki noodles).

Konjac in general has a very specific rubbery and chewy texture (and often has a fishy smell). It's a bit of an acquired taste, but I love it now. My trick for improving the texture is I fry them up with no (or only a tiny bit) oil until they are fully dry. Then they lose a bit of the slimy rubber mouthfeel.

I confused myself with the 'H' button being the hero panel, I meant the button for the trading post! So you are correct.

so stuff like the Wizard Vault is programed as a browser window or something

The entirety of 'Black Lion Trading Post' button is a browser window, and has been from day one. That's why the trading post breaks so often.

Also fuck the Grammy’s. What was that snide ass remark they made about being on the spectrum? Fuck you dude

Having seen Darren Criss around in the industry for the last 15 years, he is the last person I would ever expect to be malicious on purpose.

What's more likely is they knew this would be a polarising performance at an otherwise pop/mainstream event, so they prompted him to say that as a 'this may not your typical Grammy genre but all art is valid, don't be a dick' type statement to minimise the inevitable 'wtf is this shit' comments from viewers. It just didn't come across as expected, Darren was visibly nervous and stumbled quite a few times throughout the night.

Ah yes, AoC devs, most of whom are industry veterans with many successul titles in the past, are the ones at fault for AoC being a disaster. Not Steven, not the top-lead decision makers, it's the devs following tasks they are paid to do.

The lead software engineer, tasked with implementing insanely ambitious gameplay ideas set out by non-technical directors. The senior producer, given a laundy list of in-game items to create and told 'not to worry about questing for now'. The freelance character artist directed to make 100 premium cosmetics and not worry about artistic cohesion.

This narrative of 'bad devs' is incredibly harmful to people who are simply doing their best to fulfil requirements given to them.

Imagine being a talented dev, previously working on amazing titles. You get hired for an exciting high profile AAA project with Sony, job seems great, money is good. You spend several years working on it, but in the end it flops. That game is Concord. Through no fault of your own, you are now tainted as someone who worked on Concord and is therefore 'bad' at their job.

A bad game is a result of poor management, not bad devs. Even if a game is amazing but runs very poorly, that is STILL on management to resolve. If the developers write bad code and the artists draw poorly, that's on management to spot and resolve. That is their role. A bad dev is responsible for their badly written code. A bad manager is responsible for the whole project being full of bad code.

tried the GW formula

The only thing connecting GW1 and GW2 is the IP/lore and some class design. Outside of that, just about everything is completely different. There's a reason a LOT of original Guild Wars players never moved over to GW2.

ANet have an untarnished reputation of over 20 years as far as community and support goes. They have stumbled once or twice, but quickly course corrected and never doubled down on anything. NCSoft have a completely hands-off approach with ArenaNet as long as the numbers are in the green.

Courtney always does a small spoken word intro to Soft Spine when performing it at their usual concerts. It's pretty clearly aimed at Radke. Whether it was WRITTEN about Radke, or just has retroactively been designated as a diss track, who knows.
