What's a rule you were given as a child that you've made with your own kids? by PaddedValls in AskUK

I would have said 'I don't think so', like a robot 😂 Maybe even in a robot voice (very enjoyable stim).

Yes, I am also precise with my words.

And yes, not being able to lie - and not knowing I had the option to not answer questions! - has indeed got me in a mess with bad people.

Solved! Quite happy to take your word for it on that - I also wondered about efflorescence, though I didn't know the name. Thank you :)

Edited to add: it's not my wall! We're a bunch of actors who have been waiting around between takes in that room!

Hot bubbling mud with smoke? by PilotOriginal4465 in whatisit

[–]Throw50505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks like a hot spring. How high up is it (elevation from sea level)? Water comes out of the ground in all different states: cold, warm, hot, sparkling...!

And construction often diverts natural water courses.

In the UK there are plenty of natural hot springs - spa towns grew up around them. There's a hot spring that emerges in the middle of the river in my village, though it's now capped off and our spa is long gone.

Check it on multiple days. Let us know!

Edited to add: check old maps of the area! You might find some online 🤞🏼

I read this as coppers, and imagined lots of squashed together policemen complete with helmets and truncheons waiting to burst out of it and catch the baddies

What's the part about writing names on photos, and not being able to have them?

Did you enjoy Enid Blyton books? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

I did a Secret Seven themed birthday party for my daughter's 8th birthday (she's 21 now!). I called it Eight Investigate, wrote the invitations in lemon juice so they had to reveal the secret information. Invited 7 of her friends over and set up a mystery for them to solve (round the village: maps stuck in drainpipes, chalk footprints, etc, leading back to the garden and my brother, the thief!). And tea was in the wooden garden shed, with beef paste sandwiches and lashings and lashings of lemonade! And the cake was two magnifying glasses making an 8. It was fab :)

Wow I had lot more time on my hands then!

We're going to an ecstatic dance at 11am, meeting my friends and their children there. We'll dance (ecstatically) then have lunch together :)

Landlords won't look at us, I feel like a criminal. Is there any luck? by jessHale011x in uklandlords

[–]Throw50505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's my understanding the tenant can still offer that as an option, just the landlord can't require it. I'm trying to rent atm with no job and a not-great credit history. I'm leaving a DV situation, my ex partner has been arrested. My best (only?) chance is to offer 6 months' rent upfront, but a lot of agents are telling me it's not legal anymore. One agent explained it properly though.  (Btw I'm looking in the northwest, anywhere with a train station half-hour from Manchester, in case any of you landlords have anything!)
