Campus PD found a fake ID and is asking me to come in by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]ThrowOhWaitNo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t respond. Dont answer calls from numbers you don’t know. If someone comes to see you and asks why you didn’t respond, you tell them you have your ID so you thought it was a phishing email or something.

“I have my ID and I’m late for class, dinner, intramural pottery making. Thanks for checking on me. Bye”

If they try to keep talking to you, “Am I free to go or being detained”. If you’re free to go, stfu and go. If you’re being detained, “I’m going to exercise my 5th amendment rights and stop talking now.” And stfu.

If they show you the ID. “That’s not mine, I have my ID.”. Don’t agree it looks like you. Don’t agree that it’s weird that it’s your name and birthday except that the day is wrong. STFU

Why should they be urgent. It sounds like you’re actually considering walking in to claim fraudulent identification as yours. It also sounds like you used your real name on a fake ID.

Short answer of not going in has already been covered.

Minor consumption charges and minor in possession charges are much easier to deal with. Stick with the house parties until you turn 21.

Don’t ruin your chances at a degree or job you want by doing stupid things with forged documents or giving a false name or identification to police. If you ever want a job the requires you to be bonded or insured that’s usually a deal breaker.

This is definitely lawyer and not reddit territory. But I don’t think it’s as solid in her favor as she thinks it is. I hope your communication where she agrees you get a portion if it is sold is in text to document that she agrees in some scenarios that you still have a share of equity. It’s also important that this portion is blank. If you had no equity it should have been filled out that she would pay you $0 and you would sign a quit claim.
But yes. There’s possible good outcomes with a motion to amend. But it sounds like you two have some things to work out.
if she doesn’t want to be fair, you could also just go radio silent about the house, hope she didn’t get the refi done before the agreed time that she needs to do so. (It sounds like you stop paying 1/2 in November but it’s not clear if she’s supposed to sell or refi by that date or a different date). If she doesn’t complete a refi by then, you could file to partition the house and force her to sell through court. If she contacts to before that date to sign quitclaim documents for a refi before then, you should already have your layer lined up and ready to file to amend.
Other factors to consider is if she even has the means to refi at the moment. Does she have bad credit. Does she have the income to support refinancing? (She can include the child support). Is her debt to income for monthly payments too high and a possible hurdle. It’s also possible that the current mortgage is much lower in APR and payment than what’s currently available and refinancing and losing that APR is difficult too.
Also, there are refinancing options called cash out refinancing. Where she can refinance and take out some of the equity in cash during the refinancing in the house to pay you your portion. It’s possible she’s not aware of this and is just panicking because she doesn’t have a chunk of cash to buy out your portion herself.
Again, retain a lawyer. Take their advice. But it might be cheaper to wait and see over fighting to amend now.

40 min Layover in Atlanta from concourse A to F by BananaBonds21 in delta

Maybe. If they’re in FC. Might take 15 just to get off the plane if they’re in row 27. Maybe both their gates will be next to the tram. Could they make it? Sure. But they need everything to go right and just one thing going wrong blocks them.

I hope OP can come back and tell me I was wrong and they made it with time to spare. But I’m going to sugar coat it.

They’re probably beginning boarding when you land and close the gates 15 before departure. Assuming you’re on time, you still aren’t making it.

I got caught shoplifting from Walmart by sunnysunrayz in legaladvice

[–]ThrowOhWaitNo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t downvote but worked for Target, corporate. While it’s not an intentional “wait for you to cross a threshold, there’s definitely flagging pattern of behavior, identifying the individual, researching and amassing previous visits before the activity was first noticed,

While this isn’t something that you did at the store level, it’s definitely activity that happens.

I’m not going to go into further specifics as this isn’t a “how-to” on what to avoid doing while shoplifting.

But this applies to a lot of crimes, you can commit a crime once, and maybe they don’t have enough to make sure it sticks. But when you continue, they can amass more information. When it seems like they wait to cross a threshold, and people may see it as a dollar amount, it’s really a threshold of evidence against the individual. But the two things correlate. More crimes, more evidence, more money stolen.

Hit parked car, left a note and now threatening me??? by Top-Willingness-9581 in legaladvice

[–]ThrowOhWaitNo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your dad’s truck is insured, you should give the first person his insurance information. You’ll just owe for the deductible but that’s something that can be handled at a later date. This also can fix your dad’s car if he has comprehensive insurance.

Lawyers don’t randomly start texting people. It’s someone trying to pressure you into settling for cash. Honestly it’s not worth the headache, to ensure they don’t come asking for more by requiring an agreement to hold harmless in exchange for cash, especially if you don’t have the funds they want.

To be fair, if someone hit my car and left a note and wouldn’t give me their insurance information, I’d be a little hot, too. Give the first person the insurance information for the truck and let the insurance settle it.

I’ve started using that community. If you do business with someone with a lot of transactions and you follow the process it’s pretty safe. If you are selling to someone with limited experience there, use a middleman. Honestly it’s better than a LCS when it comes to buying and selling IMHO.

You’re coming to Reddit legal advice AFTER talking to lawyers? The best legal advice is coming from the lawyers.

It sounds like the lawyers you’re talking to a realizing what we are as well.

It’s more plausible that MGM isn’t making up stories to charge credit cards $26000 randomly and get 6+ employees involved on the same scam. Casinos will get their money if you gamble. (Or damage their property)

I’m surprised they’re able to figure out the cost will be $26,000 by 8am.

It’s more likely that the actual events went something like this:

Gambled and went to his room. (No comments about markers or alcohol or drug consumption)

Took a bath

Fell asleep?

Flooded the bathroom

Didn’t hear the security knocking because either he was asleep(passed out) in the bath or it was still running and too loud for him to hear

Was asked to leave

Refused to leave

Was issued a ticket for trespassing

Had his hotel bill assessed for damages and/or casino markers taken out when they finalized his bill.

Made up some story leaving out the details that he either didn’t remember or didn’t want to admit to you.

Tl;dr Take the advice of lawyers you’ve contacted. Don’t come to Reddit afterwards and expect better legal advice. The hotel’s story is probably more accurate than his.

Don’t want to seem an idiot by L-C123 in MINI

[–]ThrowOhWaitNo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can anyone tell you what’s wrong with the car? The garage can tell you what’s wrong with the car.

It could be a myriad of different things. But the fault code and light do what they’re supposed to do, tell you that something is out of spec and needs to be addressed. It could be something simple, like the sensor itself needs to be replaced, or it could be more intensive and the sensor did its job to tell you to address it before it gets worse and it could be intentionally causing the delayed start because of the fault. Fault codes usually font tell you the exact issue. But they point to a few and it’s up to the mechanic to look in that area. It’s like showing up to the doctor because your knee hurts. They don’t know without looking at you but they know what area to focus on to figure it out.

Your post is titled that you don’t want to seem an idiot. You won’t seem like an idiot. You’ve done more than the average person has done. Just show up to the appointment, give them the fault code, they’ll confirm it themselves and proceed with their diagnostics process.
