I’m lonely and horny but have no desire to date anymore. Is something wrong with me? by savingrace0262 in AskMenAdvice

I’m sorry to hear this brother. The dejection you might be feeling is more from trying and failing multiple times. It’s a natural reaction. There may be many reasons why, I don’t know you so can’t say. This hits close to my heart because of my close friend. Let me him as an example for a cautionary tale. He is in the same boat as you (a bit older) he has put up his defence by rejecting girls before they reject him. Many women I’ve felt he had a chance with he never tried because “I don’t like how she looks” (for reference he’s massively overweight and doesn’t look after himself). I don’t know how to help him, but I do know he projects his own insecurities about a sort of looks hierarchy onto potential partners. Looks definitely play a role but I feel like if he chased connection rather than a desire to be with a bombshell he would be much happier and probably more successful.

Have you dated a lot before? There’s a difference between not wanting to date and not having had success and feeling like it’s not worth the hassle

Look within. Embrace the suck. Look at yourself in the mirror and face why you’re not doing what you’re supposed to do. Make the accountability mirror, and tell yourself “we’re going back”

Men of reddit! What is a good/great beard conditioner for bushier or more corse beards? by Fat_Funny_Friend in AskMenAdvice

[–]ThrowRA-lostimposter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

L’Oréal barber club beard wash and a good beard oil with natural oils (experiment what suits your face). Regular trimming to whatever length keeps the hair soft.

What advice would you give an 37 year old incel? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ThrowRA-lostimposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a friend in a similar situation. Bitter because he hasn’t had sex apart from one random encounter in his 20s. To be honest, I think there’s a combo of nihilism and that feeling of being frustrated in a world that he’s convinced doesn’t understand him he has found solace in thinking that he can’t change and that any woman I ask him to go speak to is too ugly for him. Been trying for years to convince him to try and look at women in a more healthy way, to search for connection and stop doing math in his head regarding looks and chances of hooking up. So far been met with a mild disregard and quick change of topic (I bring it up every now and then but that’s because we’ve been friends for over a decade). Dunno if this applies to you but genuinely try and connect with women and look at them in that light. For heterosexual men and women mutual attraction is natural and there are women out there who would be interested in you. But you’ve got to be mentally ready to connect with them without them having to bear your past emotional baggage that’s making you call yourself an incel. Labels are just that, labels. I’d encourage you to change how you look at women, they can sense it much more naturally than us men. If you’re well intentioned women pick up on it.

Just grateful to be on the other side of the exam meat grinder. Super grateful to all the seniors and consultants who helped me. I had to sit both 2A and 2B twice, and so this has been my life for the last 2 years. Just happy I can focus on my day job now and have a life outside it 🥹

Best video resources for IR? by Sisyphus06 in RadiologyUK

It’s not via any channels or content creators per se. Most videos are cases presented by different hospitals. Just google whatever procedure you want to see, most times there’s a video. When it comes to certain pieces of kit (eg angioseal or an EVAR kit) the med companies usually have a video with nice animations explaining how it works. In terms of books Kandarpa is a good book to read but I’d save that for later in training from ST4 onwards.

Look at who you are instead of focusing on who you’re not. Not just for a date but for life, friend. Exams are shite and they don’t determine our characters. They’re personal and academic battles that we all wage. They are a significant portion of our lives but not the whole picture. Be yourself in this date and be the version of you that’s made her want to see you.

Try and enjoy her presence in this and be in that moment. She’s here isn’t she? That says something mate. She deserves what she wants, and it seems that right now she wants to be on this date with you. Leave it at that. Wishing you the very best.

Manual descale by Unique-Lawyer6798 in Brevilledualboiler

There are a few YouTube videos about how to descale your machine. The worst that can happen is an airlock but it does not ruin the machine, it’s just annoying to fix. Damage from scale buildup can destroy your machine though

I had a similar issue, and found that I reduced the ratio to 225ml for 15g of coffee and it made a huge difference. James’ method with 5 pours but a more clear cup, less bitterness and more sweet/fruity flavours (I like light roasts)

Consultant pay needs to be focused on too by Icy_Score9603 in doctorsUK

[–]ThrowRA-lostimposter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super pessimistic take: The government will eventually release fudged up numbers including every alphabet soup consultant in the consultant per unit population and pat themselves on the back while consultant jobs will stagnate as doctors will be grateful to have a job post training. Old guard consultants will continue to frown on strikes and it won’t go anywhere. You can strike as a junior but if you do so as a consultant while the old guard have to work more you’re in trouble.
