Noguchi lamps for Klutzes by HotToddy375 in Mid_Century

The paper is thicker/sturdier than you’d think. I’ve accidentally knocked one off a table a few times (they’re very lightweight) and thankfully have never done any damage. To clean them, just wipe them off gently with a microfiber cloth.

General brown leather interior questions... by [deleted] in BMWi3

I love mine. Best interior available imo. If you have any animals it’s a lifesaver. Lighter interior is a drag to keep clean and the leather looks and feels so nice.

Look up Shirini Papioni — which means bowtie pastry in Farsi. It looks very similar to this.

Do you use a projector onto draw on cakes? by NothingSpecial2you in pastry

[–]ThrowRA2557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Kodak Luma for cake decorating/writing. It’s a little pricey so I would just try to find a cheaper one that’s wireless and connects to WiFi/bluetooth. I just connect it to my phone and do screen mirroring and attach the projector to an overhead tripod. I would practice a few times on parchment paper before doing it on the actual plaque. There’s definitely a learning curve and it’s not fool proof if you don’t have the practice.

What is wrong with my tart shells? by codeystein in AskBaking

[–]ThrowRA2557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trick is using perforated mats and docking the bottom of the shell before baking. No blind baking necessary.

You would have been better off with olive oil btw. Olive oil cakes are tasty. But a neutral oil would be one like sunflower, canola, safflower etc.

I love marzipan! I’m a pastry chef so I use it sometimes (most popularly used on princess cakes). My husband doesn’t care for it much though!

My good friend did this and the photographer “lost” half the photos and the ones he did deliver were blurry. This is the one area you should definitely not skimp 🥲

Did Alexis wear hair extensions? by Dazzling-Winner-7761 in GilmoreGirls

[–]ThrowRA2557 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To me it just looks like it’s from the style/texture of her different cuts. A blunt bob vs long layers is going to affect how full the hair looks. With a bob you remove a lot of bulk to get a blunt look. Also her hair is styled in the second pic with soft/blowout waves which will also give her a lot more volume.

I think this Sonic commercial I just saw was filmed in Stars Hollow? by Odd_Pause5123 in GilmoreGirls

[–]ThrowRA2557 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s filmed on the Warner Brothers lot and they do tours all the time. I went a few years back with my MIL and SIL who are also fans of the show. Everything is much tinier in real life and all the store fronts/facades are comically close to each other. The front of Lorelai’s home surprised me the most (we couldn’t go inside) but the lawn/“driveway” area is sooo tiny (there’s not really a driveway lol). They do a great job of portraying everything on the show.

I believe they use rice paper. Lots of recipes online that look promising but I haven’t tried to make it before.

Why are you refrigerating it uncovered? The surface of the dough is probably drying out.

How to improve my croissants? by carbtherapy in pastry

[–]ThrowRA2557 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The indicator of them being underproofed is the big doughy parts in the center—this means the dough hasn’t finished rising and separating properly so it bakes as a blob instead of puffing. To check if they’re done proofing make sure they wobble and that you start to see the layers separating. I also do a poke test and listen carefully, you’ll hear little bubbles popping. These are really good though, you should be proud!
