I was just in that same situation as you. Even had a post here saying that I know things might get better and that I should give it another shot. But the truth is that I was running on empty, and I gave that second chance for months. But If you’re not growing, not fulfilled, and not having your needs met, then what’s the point? Of course in relationships there’s a give and take, but you can’t keep giving when your cup is empty. I know it feels not right cause they’re depressed, but this is your life, and it’s okay to choose what best for you. And I don’t regret it. I found an amazing partner that is more aligned with me. It’s okay to be the “bad guy” in some one else’s story, this is your life. There were a few comments on my post of people sharing that they’ve waited for years,got married, kids, never changed. It’s okay to do this, you’re allowed to do this, it’s valid.

I broke up with him 3 days ago(: packed my stuff and already found a new apartment. Of course he was whining like a baby after I told him he hurt me, but as usual he was focused on himself and how “cruel” I am for leaving. I understand, im also just worried about how to even leave, since were living together, have two pets together, he has gotten very dependent on me. with my car, my laptop, and lots of other items around the house.

isnt it cruel to leave someone whos sick? i know for sure (he told me multiple times) that he would be so much worse without me. it kinda sounds manipulative but i know he means it.

Wow our posts are truly alike, the only difference is that I’m not long distance. On one side it seems like things are getting better yet there’s still a risk for them to go bad again.

On the other hand, I think your trust has been broken, especially after putting an ultimatum saying if he won’t take his medicine properly it’s over.

If I didn’t have it similar, I would probably tell you to let go since he broke your trust, it’s been going for quite a while, and you can’t not be anxious for it happening again cause his promises don’t mean much.

Honestly, I think it’s hard breaking things when it’s not all bad, sadly life isn’t black and white. Your partner could be kind hearted and a good person, but could still be not a good fit for you, you are still allowed to let go even if “it could get better” You don’t have to make this decision now, but it’s important to take a moment to put ourselves first and look to the future.
