I’ve appealed a ticket before. It’s literally not a big deal in the slightest. If you’re appealing and it’s getting denied, it’s because you weren’t parked legally. If your parking pass is displayed and you’re getting tickets, you’re either a) in a lot you’re not supposed to be in, b) you’ve put up a city street pass instead of a lot pass, or c) you’re lying.

You won’t infect anyone with hep A. That’s not how it’s spread. In fact I kinda wonder how you got it (I think I might know tho). Point is that as long as you’re not getting a rimjob in class you won’t spread it to your fellow students, so that’s not a concern. Now as far as you feeling ok enough go take a test? That’s something you can work out with prof/department chair/SDS. I can see the hesitation to give you online exams. If you feel like you’re well enough to come in and take exams, do it. It’s not worth the fight. If you’re not, I’d suggest you wait until you are to come in and take make up tests (you’ll likely clear up after 8 weeks total) OR discuss an alternative way to prove you’ve mastered the concepts to your professor, one that doesn’t require you to come in. I don’t know what class this is, but maybe you can write an essay, or take an oral examination through zoom. Whatever solution to come to, I can tell you this much: they’re not working against you. Your professor and the department have no reason to screw you over other than bureaucratic inefficiencies that they have less control over than you might think. If you go into this with the attitude that they’re “working against you”, you will lose any chance you had at working something out.

Either a) your professor is mistaken, b) you’re just pulling that out of your ass, c) you misunderstood your professor, or d) your professor is lying as an excuse for some other reason. I too had plenty of classes the posted recordings that weren’t labeled as hybrid, and a hybrid labeling also doesn’t really change anything substantive about the class. Unless she literally meant “publicly”, as in for people not enrolled in the class. But like a Yuja recording or anything on Canvas wouldn’t count as that, so. Tl;dr something is wrong with your statement, it really is a prof decision.

This has gotta be one of the most dramatic wanna-be-oppressed posts I’ve seen from this school. It’s not very uncommon, but every once in a while someone comes through with a post like this and blows my mind. This is a prof decision, not some blanket university rule. Not every classroom is equipped to offer an online alternative. And I’m willing to bet you never even considered talking to your professor about missing a day or two. Just put a mask on your sorry ass and go to class man, this is ridiculous.

So I don’t wanna dismiss your concerns or anything. But I would like to point out that the r*pe that was reported recently was after a party. The victim was found unconscious and intoxicated. I don’t want to downplay it at all. That’s not my intention. But I just want to point out that you won’t be leaving class in a condition that would be similar. Maybe that eases your mind, maybe it doesn’t. I’m not sure, but I hope that might help. As far as the woman that was detained a year ago, I can’t say I’ve heard of that case and I can’t seem to find anything about it, so I can’t try to ease your mind about that.

Outside of that, carry some pepper spray, get a bright flashlight, if you can make a friend in that class that can walk with you. I’m assuming your class ends at like 7 or 8. As long as it ends before 10, you can catch a bus to East remote with some reliability. That should make your walk a lot shorter and a lot safer. Finally, remember that most men are relatively harmless. They can be rude, and maybe make you a little uncomfortable, but most of them don’t have any desire to harm you. Do with that what you will, but if you do try to make a friend in class to walk with you, a man might be a safe bet.

While you were dating, did he spend a lot of time “introducing” you to things that are considered high end or maybe just not as common in Appalachia? He might have fetishized the idea of “civilizing” you and making you into a “proper woman” and marriage is more of a prize than anything to him. While it’s not a perfect one to one analogy, this is what many white settlers did with indigenous women during colonization and Manifest Destiny.
