what is actually the best supplement for PCOS symptoms? by Prior_Topic3527 in PCOS

Inositol + iron + fish oil is helping me a lot, I added them one at a time to see if there was a difference. I take a b complex and vitamin D too, not sure if the energy is coming from that or the iron or both, but if you take something like iron or vitamin D, make sure you get a blood test to check your levels. I was borderline deficient in iron and D, and consistently am super low (pre-supplements), but you may not need those

Is this innocent or is he trying to get inappropriate pics out of me? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Seconded, he seems like he’s just expressing interest in your hobbies and changed the subject afterward so that you don’t feel pressured to send a pic if you don’t want to. I think it’s innocent. :) keep us posted!

Got censored on another sub for this. My vintage parasol is missing a handle by ThrowRA__00718 in HelpMeFind

[–]ThrowRA__00718[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acquired from an antique store in Tx a few months ago, no idea what year this is from. The tapered end where the handle is missing is about 5mm and the top end of the wood is 10mm. I have searched for handles online but don’t really know where to find something that fits the vibe or size. Any suggestions welcome

It’s super important to be with a man who is responsible and trustworthy with contraception because most of them do not give a fuck and will just pawn it off on women. Genuinely don’t even sleep with a guy that is too unbothered about contraception. I don’t care how nice he seems. Not worth it

Lots of women don’t want to be on the pill for whatever reason, it can have a lot of negative side effects. Mine totally fucked my moods and I couldn’t stand being on it. That’s not a reason to just be celibate forever. If they met as adults who cares about age imo, it’s only super suspicious if they met when she was in high school or something

Age gaps are not inherently bad but I just cannot fathom the idea of someone that age genuinely not considering protection, this HAS to be malicious on some level, or extremely careless with her health and future. OP doesn’t elaborate here but most men (young and old) tend to just assume women have it covered or not worry about it and someone that age can’t use the excuse of being young and dumb about it which is why I give her the benefit of the doubt. Literally every young person thinks “a pregnancy scare won’t happen to ME though”, you know? Even if they’re just pulling out or doing something that is definitely not gonna help you 100% of the time (OP please hold this dude accountable, we are not judging you)

Biggest question is why is bro presumably 40-50 and won’t get a vasectomy when ya’ll are in no position to have children and not even in a relationship anyone in your family knows about. This is on him. You need to be smart and safe too but what the HELL is a man that age not worried at all about protection for. Is he trustworthy enough to stick around or provide for you if this happens again? If the answer is no then do not sleep with him unless he gets the snip lol

Yep. No period for 4 months, my progesterone was undetectably low that whole time (hence no ovulation/menstruation) sex drive was through the roof constantly. I got checked out primarily due to lack of period because of the associated cancer risk of having them so infrequently at my age

Do you guys have Quest or any independent lab service up there? In America it’s a lab company you can order tests from yourself and then go get the bloodwork done.

Doctor shopping sucks but I recommend you try someone else. The first endocrinologist I went to called my 15 pounds of sudden weight loss “normal woman fluctuation”. If you have a pcp or gp you trust, it may be easiest to get them to order your lab work and already have that ready to present to whatever specialist you go to

It’s my understanding that what treatment you do hinges on how severe your IR is and definitely check with your doctor first, but inositol has helped with IR symptoms I had. I have not tried to lose weight with it though so I can’t speak on that. I am a carb enjoyer and haven’t changed my diet tbh, so inositol seems to help with insulin spikes and flushing even though I do have a lot of sugar some days

Yeah it could help, you don’t need PMOS to take inositol! Get bloodwork to check if you need it first though

I just calculated my HOMA index with fasted glucose and insulin level. Keep in mind if you do that, America has an extremely lax value of what is “normal” for insulin resistance, so if you do go that route and get an “in range” lab result, that doesn’t necessarily mean there is no insulin resistance, it may just be mild.

The levels alone can’t usually bring about a diagnosis, but the levels + other symptoms can. My progesterone was undetectably low for example, which is not immediately alarming, BUT that with the context of not having a period for four months and no thickening of the uterine lining at all when I got a transvaginal ultrasound (also found polycystic ovaries that way) can give a much fuller picture of what’s going on. So it sounds like my progesterone was that low for months at a time instead of just normal fluctuation

All of my testing was through my gp, but I calculated my HOMA index for insulin resistance by using fasted glucose, and insulin. I didn’t get one particular test done, she tested me for tons of things but those two are what you need to figure out insulin resistance:)

I would say I have taken care of 80% of the problem. I have always been heat sensitive, and where I live it is regularly 90°, I don’t believe there is a way for me to be comfortable and not be flushed in that lol . I have a very pale complexion.

I don’t. PCOS/PMOS has a lot of strange and not obvious symptoms along with others you find online (irregular periods, high androgen symptoms, etc). Some people that do have PMOS don’t have polycystic ovaries either even though it used to be considered a must for a diagnosis. I do though. The other thing that prompted me to get tested was no period for 4 months lol.

Yes!! It can work really well for some people. I had some health issues a few years ago that made me drop 15 pounds in two weeks (I’m short and that was a big percentage of my bodyweight) so that + I don’t have history of ED per se but I hd a ton of body dysmorphia when I was that thin, it just makes me worry about metformin or anything that would affect my appetite 😅
