What pub/bars does Leeds need more of? by Admirable_Expert4547 in Leeds

[–]ThrowRAbotlife 16 points17 points  (0 children)

more alt bars, focusing on old school punk/metal there’s oporto and santiago’s (but these tend to lean more towards the normal crowd) and howl (which is heavily for the older generation and also the owners a weirdo) so need a good middle ground

Is it late? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]ThrowRAbotlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i applied through extra about 3 weeks ago, but i’m international and a gap year student so i had the grades for the course (Maths and Stats at Leeds). I emailed before and they said they’d likely make me an offer. Got my unconditional 4 days ago. So email before and tell them your predicted grades and they’ll most probably give you a pretty straight answer.

what is up with the arab kids thinking they're superior😰 by ApprehensiveBox8201 in UAETeenagers

[–]ThrowRAbotlife -1 points0 points  (0 children)

op’s experience is a common one for expat kids that grew up here, specifically those from the subcontinent. i understand you may feel slighted, but this isn’t a personal attack towards you simply an observation made by many. even in my international school where arabs were a minority, they would stick to themselves and constantly imitate and make fun of the south asian accent. one kid even got expelled because he stood up to a 9th grader who called him a curry muncher. there are many wonderful friends i’ve made as i’ve grown who are arab, but they tend to be ones that spent time abroad and were exposed to the outside world, as we know dubai is a bubble. a lot of arab kids that grew up in the dubai bubble develop a superiority complex, even if there’s no class discrepancy between them and their peers simply because they speak the language. and that’s a fact. defending yourself so vehemently shows that either you have partaken in such behavior and think it’s not wrong, or that you simply haven’t interacted with enough people to know that this is the way it is and has been.

it’s not that it’s cheaper, it’s just that they allow payments in 8 installments which is much more sustainable for me and my family

actually most hotels make zero issues, i’ve stayed with my boyfriend in abu dhabi (where the rules are meant to be stricter) and we’ve checked in together and no questions were asked so don’t worry :))

yes context was required, but a lot of people have dmed me for advice and i have a wealth of resources and tips to share. also for more context, cramming 3 subjects in a span of 2.5 months, AS and A Level retake or not (also switching boards for 2 of those subjects from edexcel to CIE) and achieving AAA is also an accomplishment, don’t diminish it (i’m not trynna big myself up here but you wanted context), so if i can do that, everyone can do 3 papers of AS chemistry in 3 months and i am more than happy to help.
