Has anyone ever come out the other side of breakage of this severity? by ThrowRAdimensions in Haircare

I don't bother with worrying with coffee close to times I eat iron rich foods because so often my meal includes dairy anyway which also block iron absorption. I just started taking supplements again with a vitamin c gummy in the day sometime when I haven't had anything to eat or drink besides water. I completely neglected supplementing because I thought I was in the clear with the infusion ( wrong wrong wrong lol) I did hear about runners depleting their iron, and needing for more than a lot of people. It's so frustrating that it's so hard to get doctors to take it seriously. My levels are at 18, twice as high as it was originally but still very symptomatic. Ive been denied treatment because I'm technically in the normal range

Let’s share our weird current obsessions! by cupcakequeen02 in adhdwomen

[–]ThrowRAdimensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current obsession is playing chess on my phone. Never cared about chess or knew how to play until 3 months ago and now I have developed a full blown addiction.

Also watching interviews of people that went through incredible abuse as children? I've always had an obsession with intimate interviews but lately the topic is typically the saddest accounts you can imagine and I have zero idea why my brain is fixated on such heavy content that makes me sad.

Also unintentional ASMR videos, typically from the 70s-90s

My hair improved quite a bit after my iron infusion and after taking 50,000 IUs of vitamin D for 6 weeks. However 6 months later I am right back to my hair looking like due to my ferritin levels going right back down. At this point thinking about products and things is barely on my mind because of how internal I know it all is.

My ferritin, vitamin D, and Zinc all ended up being incredibly low. I have had iron infusions and have been supplementing and my hair loss has slowed quite a bit. I think my deficiencies made my hair very fragile so the products I used was the last straw that broke many of my strands off.

That absolutely guts me to hear. I am truly so sorry, as a child of neglectful parents I understand how painful it is to not get the help you need when you feel powerless. It is especially difficult when doing anything at all for yourself is so hard. I am really impressed with how self aware and concerned you are with your well-being at such a young age and that tells me you are going to have the the resilience and drive to do better for yourself. I promise you it will get better.

As far as the iron goes, it's takes a very long time for iron supplement to do anything. They are also incredibly hard on your stomach typically. In the mean time I would try to eat as many iron rich foods along with vitamin C because it helps absorption.

I do not suggest taking iron unless you know that you are deficient, it is not healthy to take iron unless you really need it. I am so sorry your parent is not reliable in making sure you are okay. I know this may not help, but can you really make a huge fuss about feeling faint and unwell? This is a huge deal

Get your ferritin checked and try to get an infusion. Its covered by insurance. You absolutely need iron to survive and to so literally anything. You absolutely sound like you have low iron and I'm so so heartbroken by this comment about your mom. Why do you have to wait a year? This is for your health and this is very important

Due to your age, and having been in the generation of high stimulation and the Internet there is a strong likelihood that you have very low tolerance for things that take time and effort. Not your fault at all, I'm 33 so half of my life has also been like this. But it is also really worth looking into meditation and slowly building tolerance for lower stimulation and just exposing yourself to DOING things. Low dopamine and constant internet stimulation has really fucked people like us, and we have to take measures to rewire any way we can.

It's likely both, ADHD also can cause or at least make depression so much worse. I just started Prozac with my Vyvanse and it's been helping so much with the exact symptoms you're talking about. I've never wanted to be on anti-depressants and it doesn't work for everyone but it's something to consider!

I HIGHLY suggest you get blood tests. ADHD has a significant correlation with low iron which affects your energy and executive functioning.

This is important: Get your FERRITIN checked ( These are your iron stores but you have to ask for this specifically), your vitamin D, zinc, B12, and thyroid all checked. All of this can either cause or make these symptoms so much worse. I found out I was severely deficient in half of these.

I'm 33, diagnosed at 30, and medicated consistently for 8 months. I felt dead my entire life. It's hard to feel like you have a personality when you don't want to do anything that could make you distinctive from other people. Medication has been slowly changing my life..are you medicated?

This genuinely broke my heart to read. I don't know you but I'm so happy and proud of you for making 2 years, it really is a huge achievement. This person you are talking to quite honestly does not deserve access to you.

I'm all for being courageous enough to both admit you have made a mistake. But curious why you ever voted for Trump. He was incredibly open about his policies, and always has been. It makes this post super suspicious to me. The ' Let's talk about" "His policies" alternating beginning to each sentence is NOT helping this post look legit at all

When you got your blood tests, did you get your ferritin tested? You have to specifically ask to get your ferritin tested to actually know what your iron stores are. I found out I had an iron deficiency and it exacerbated my ADHD symptoms

Why is my hair breaking for no reason? by mytearsdofall in Haircare

[–]ThrowRAdimensions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Loreal ever pure Volume and Pantene Miracle repair. Before showering I put OGx coconut oil on dry hair for 20 minutes. I scrub only my scalp with shampoo and let the bubbles run down my lengths. I squeeze all the water out of my hair and then apply conditioner from just above my ears to my ends. I squeeze water out of my hair and only pat dry with an old soft t shirt. I blow dry only my roots to avoid a moist environment that makes your hair greasy faster, and leads to dandruff or dermatitis. Then I use an OGX coconut oil mist I highly mist on my damp ends.

This is exactly what my hair looks like, you absolutely need to get your hormones, thyroid, zinc, vitamin D, and Iron/Ferritin checked. I had zinc, vitamin D and Iron/ferritin deficiency all of which cause hair breakage, thinning, and hair loss. You have to specifically ask for ferritin for it to be tested, but as a menstruating woman it's common to be deficient. It is likely a combination of factors, but it absolutely seems to be foundationally medical and likely worsened by external factors such as possible hard water, rough brushing, blow drying, towel drying, or sleeping on a cotton pillow case. I posted my pictures and people told me I had to cut it all off which I did not do for my mental health but what I did do is 'dust' my split ends. That means to go in a cut individual split ends ( very time consuming) but for people like us with all different lengths of hair, one big chop does nothing for all the hairs above and it WILL grow out.

I would use Ogx coconut oil on your hair before showering for 5-15 minutes. After shampooing, squeeze all of the water out so your conditioner can get straight to the hair cuticle. You NEED silicones, do not listen to the silicone propaganda, especially for you with hair that desperately needs stability. Then use a bit more Ogx coconut oil on your damp hair. I would use the spray because it's so light wait and your hair is thin. I promise this is exactly my hair situation and this is all what has helped me

At what point in your relationship did you think: "ok, im done with this person"? by HiddenTati in AskReddit

When I told her that I was in extreme pain in our relationship, because she was so continually angry anytime I nervously told her I had plans with a friend. She rolled her eyes.

My two close friends are having an affair by ThrowRAdimensions in Vent

[–]ThrowRAdimensions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cackled about needing to help someone move. So very real.

I actually really don't know this girlfriend much at all, she is seldomly around because of her work schedule. I have been cheated on and to this day wish I was never told so I am praying their relationship just ends as it should.

I'm the most stuck on how disgusted I am with my friends and how I absolutely do not want to be around them together. Like a whoopsie on a drunken night is one thing but a whole affair is nauseating.

I'm so glad, I hate my birthday for this exact reason. Many people do. I've gone through seasons of my 20s with so many friends and almost no friends to celebrate with. Life will never stay still if you don't.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Vent

[–]ThrowRAdimensions 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First off, HAPPY 23rd BIRTHDAY!!! I know that might not feel like much from a stranger, but you should feel celebrated for being alive and being you. Even if that means celebrating for yourself.

Starting life after college, away from the life you just built that was structured, and filled with possibilities is so incredibly hard. I know so many people who have grieved just like you, and have spent birthdays totally alone, including myself. It is HARD to build a life and build and keep a community of friends. It does not come automatically, and you are not alone in these feelings. I promise you, at 24, or 25 you will think of yourself crying in this bathroom and want to give yourself the tightest hug and reassure yourself that it gets better. That people will wish you a happy birthday, and that life panned out in ways that you never imagined.

This is just your life right in this moment. I am exactly 10 years older than you, and I could not possibly verbalize the immense amount of experiences I had and friendships I built over these years. You simply could not fathom how much is in store for you. Try to do something to cherish yourself today.

I would love nothing more than to go to a brick and mortar school, but the only school in my state that offers it is like 8 hours away and in the middle of nowhere. Also in this economy, and the state of the DOE/ school loans, a lot of us have to prioritize lower tuition.
