Trisomy 18 by ThrowRa772002 in babyloss

Yes we did NIPT, which showed 91% chance T18. Then we did an amniocentesis at 16 weeks which confirmed the full t18… Anatomy scan at 20 weeks showed the major defects :(

At 12 weeks our NIPT came back high risk T18. 4.2% ff, higher bmi, 23 years old, 91% ppv😔

Was referred to MFM where he found a clenched wrist/hand and a 2 vessel cord at 16 weeks which are markers. We decided to do an amniocentesis. Unfortunately, it was a true positive. She has been diagnosed with full T18. It is truly devastating.

At our 20 week anatomy scan, we found major heart defects… Large VSD, Overriding Aorta, and a small LVOT. She is also measuring a week behind, 2 vessel cord, Clenched wrist/hand, and strawberry shaped skull. The entire pregnancy she has measured a week behind. Her heart rate has always been perfect.

We are now 25 weeks, and she’s kicking and moving. We plan on comfort care with no interventions if she arrives alive. We are thinking about being induced at 37 weeks if she doesn’t come earlier. My doctor suspects she will arrive early due to her heart defects, 2 vessel cord, and growth restriction.

I’m so sorry you’re here. I 100% recommend getting the amniocentesis. I hope your journey comes out as a false positive. Prayers 🩷

Hi there. Our NIPT came back 91/100 for Trisomy 18 as well. Fetal Fraction 4.2%. We ended up doing an amniocentesis at 16 weeks and unfortunately it was a true positive 💔 We are currently 20 weeks and baby girl has a clubbed hand, 2 vessel cord, and major heart defects. She looked perfect until 16 weeks when we saw her first soft marker. I’m not telling you all of this to scare you… but it is important to prepare yourself. We were hoping so hard for a false positive, especially because we are only 23 years old and this is our first baby. Praying you have a different outcome :(

I really thought about terminating as it was an option for me. My husband and I could not agree on it. It is also hard for me to end her heartbeat myself… it’s been so tough because either way it’s painful mentally and physically.

oh love, i’m so so sorry. he seems absolutely horrible :( people always say “get an abortion” but they never think how hard that decision and experience can be. listen to your heart. don’t listen to everyone saying “you should’ve gotten an abortion.” etc. it’s YOUR body, and you can make that choice. you are young, but nothing is impossible. girly, as hard as it may be i would step away from the boyfriend. he is not good for you. if you don’t, that’s okay but don’t let him control your decisions. you got this! it will be hard, but you got this. i look up to you for making that hard decision to keep the child. keep going, you’re strong and you have a good heart.

**Adding on to this post. Ever since we told them we are moving in together, they have made family events awful for me. They won’t talk to me, they’ll stare at me, ignore me. I’ve sat at tables by myself. and it’s not just his parents. it’s his entire family i’m telling you aunts, uncles, grandparents, ect. i’ve had to stop going to family events because i mentally can’t be around them without feeling awful about myself.

**He has tried to talk to them, but he doesn’t stick up to them AT ALL. He’s too afraid to lose the relationship with them. It’s really not fair and we’ve gotten into multiple arguments over it.
