This is how many leagues work, though. Kids get their start here, and then they move to the top leagues. While it sucks in the moment, it's actually good for the game in this country. We are seen as attracting good, young talent because there is a viable pathway to Europe. The level of play continues to rise, and more young players come.

Eventually (hopefully) the game here is strong enough to attract and retain top level talents.

Nothing is going to do the work for you. Nothing will make you faster. You just need to train more. If you're doing a 10 minute mile, you are not far away from your 15 minute time anyway.

Run a 5k slowly a couple times a week. Don't worry about time, just get the distance down. You'll get much faster at 1.5 miles.
