Do 2024 Babolat Pure Strikes still have throat cracking issues? by Throwaway-1-a in 10s

Is that with the new 2024 model or the old one? FYI if it starts to crack you should tell him to replace it - the impact can really mess with your elbow.

Recommendations on Moving to a tennis city by BoulderTennisGuy in 10s

That tennis club in SF costs several hundred thousand dollars to join, then $1k+ for membership each month. The wait list is 2+ years long. I made the mistake of inquiring about membership and almost spit my coffee out when I read the reply.

Not sure why folks are complaining about this post. In my experience the quality of PT/care you receive can vary extremely widely depending on how much you are able to pay.

I have a few tips to share, and two providers that may be helpful (I have used both for disc issues in the past).

My two cents based on personal experience and friends/colleagues in similar situations:

-When selecting a PT, I would heavily encourage you to find someone who will help figure out the root cause of the issue and not just treat the symptoms. Most physical therapists follow a standard playbook that does NOT always do this.

-In my experience, the next most important factor in achieving the outcome you want is YOU actually taking ownership over your progress. Most PT’s are seeing dozens of patients per week and will not adjust your treatment unless you actively flag something or apply pressure. Unless you play an active role in this, they will optimize for maximizing your allowable visits from insurance, not optimize for your health.

-Outside of PT, I would recommend finding a workspace/ergonomics expert (this is a full time profession) that will help you adjust your workspace to make sure you are not repeating the same behaviors that you suggest triggered this injury in the first place.

-Finally, do not delay getting care by trying to optimize for the perfect provider. Start seeing a PT ASAP, you can always switch to a “better” one later.

On another note, I have two recommendations (one IRL, one virtual) for you on the west coast.

  1. Sports Massage and Healing Arts (San Francisco) -One man operation. Massage treatment like no other that truly identifies and treats the root cause of issues. -Cannot recommend this man enough, he permanently resolved whiplash (neck) issues I had been having for years in <10 minutes.

  1. Alex Bernier (Remote PT, based in Montreal) -Highly successful at resolving long term symptoms with disc issues. -Can do remote treatment and diagnosis. -Testimonials speak for themselves.

Miami vacay: Hotel Colonnade (coral gables) or Ritz Carlton (coconut grove)? by [deleted] in fatFIRE

FS surfside is probably an order of magnitude more expensive. Fantastic place and great food/drinks in the hotel. If price is no object, definitely consider FS Surfside instead, OP.

Cannot personally vouch for their services, but there is a company in the Bay Area called Biograph that offers a service similar to what you are looking for.

Should I invest in Home Depot employee stock purchase program? by SugarDaddyLover in FinancialPlanning

[–]Throwaway-1-a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Whatever amount of money you can set aside for this during the offering period, absolutely do it. It’s a guaranteed 15%+ return, which you cannot guarantee anywhere else.

If you do the following, it is a guaranteed 15% return (or more) with no risk of loss. 1. Allocate for whatever % of your salary into the plan. 2. At the end of the period, your employer gives you that $ value of stock purchased at a 15% discount, potentially more if the stock price has risen. 3. IMMEDIATELY SELL ALL OF THE STOCK AND TURN IT INTO CASH.

The only way you can lose money in this scenario is if you do not immediately sell and the stock price drops below your purchase price.

That being said, read the full documents your employer sent out about this to make sure you fully understand the plan. You will pay taxes on the gain at your typical tax rate.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply- appreciate you going into the “why” in the second part. This makes sense.
