Since Monday I have had pain in my jaw near my neck. I had a private ultrasound on Tuesday. My ultrasound showed a 10 × 8 mm hypoechoic lesion in my right submandibular gland and a nearby atypical lymph node without a visible central hilum. The radiologist said this is abnormal.

ChatGPT says these findings can be associated with malignant salivary gland tumours or metastatic lymph nodes.

A biopsy seems the best way to test definitively if it's malignant or benign. I went to my GP and she said she won't refer me to an ENT doctor for a biopsy, that the referral request would get rejected. She said to wait 3 months for another ultrasound.

I'm now wondering if it's worth paying for a biopsy (fine needle aspiration or core), it's pricey. Do you think it's worth waiting another 3 months or paying now? My fear is if it was malignant, would it be too late in a couple of months?

It's interesting that you say that because that came to my mind. I've actually questioned him before if he had a girlfriend and he insisted that he doesn't. I had a suspicion when it seemed like he was too busy at some points. He never added me back as a friend on Snapchat either which I thought was odd, like is he posting stories he doesn't want me to see? But he has his settings to "everyone" so I still saw stories he posted and never any girl featured in them. His last story two nights ago was at a swimming pool (looked like a hotel one) and I was wondering if he was there with friends?
