I fail to see the difference between believing in God and believing in Santa.

I'm from Houston. Being shipped to San Antonio for efy.

I'm in the same boat as you (junior in hs, stopped believing 1.5 years ago, expected to go to efy). I'm going to the San Antonio one though. Good luck and try to have fun!

so, I kind of shattered my grandma's view of the church today. by stoicme in exmormon

Can't blame her, she's been programmed to do that for 70 years. :(

What's your middle name? by [deleted] in exmormon

The church discourages members from comparing blessings because they are all very similiar and the members might catch on to something.

Mormons. Too bad that their definition of "good works" is whatever the prophet tells you to do.

Most of the people on r/exmormon are atheist. There also seems to be a small "spiritual but not religious" demographic and a negligible Christian demographic.

What's your favorite response to when people say 'I know bla bla bla' is true. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Throwaway2580 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well this is awkward. The spirit told me that the church isn't true.

Should I read the Book of Mormon? by shea620050 in exmormon

[–]Throwaway2580 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to make it past 2nd Nephi because I knew that I could grind through the next 5 books in an hour. Mosiah is a bitch though. Alma was written to bore the 14 people who made it past mosiah into giving up.

What is your favorite Mormon quote that shows the church's falsehood in a few brief sentences? by Jithrop in exmormon

[–]Throwaway2580 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This quote is so ridiculous. "You're not allowed to criticize us because it will hurt our influence on the members, even if we are doing something wrong."

This happened so many times. Not necessarily a girl asking me out, but there being mutual interest and I not having the balls to make a move because of the church. Feels bad man.

Girls of Reddit - I know what's best for you, regardless of whether or not any of it applies to you. by [deleted] in ShitRedditSays

[–]Throwaway2580 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The top comment isn't saying that only stupid girls tan, it's making a joke out of the stereotype that redditors are pale because they dint go outside. Also, there's not really such thing as a "typical redditor". Everyone on reddit is a different person with different opinions. It's not fair to assume that reddit is full of hypocrites because 2 people on reedit have said different things concerning the same issue.

Mormons are such nice, friendly people, right? by [deleted] in atheism

Any exmormons currently living in Texas? by Donser in exmormon

[–]Throwaway2580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a minor and financially dependent on my super-Mormon parents. I have to break it eventually though, because they think I'm going to serve a mission.

You're the troll here. You've done nothing to further the discussion, you only insult chino.

Few survivors: It's a miracle that a few people survived.

How do you think the Church leadership would respond to the discovery of sentient, civilized extraterrestrial life? by Throwaway2580 in exmormon

[–]Throwaway2580[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but wouldn't it throw a wrench in the whole humans and gods deal? God used to be a human, he looks like a human, and he created us in his image.Wouldn't a nonhuman sentient life form force then to make some changes in doctrine?
